Is it safer to workout in the morning or in the evening?

My friend and I were discussing the best time to workout and I prefer to do it in the morning before working. My friend however prefers to have it after work in the evening or late afternoon. I strongly detested because I believe it isn't safe anymore to be active at night when it's only a few hours before you go to sleep. Am I right about this or anytime is alright?

If you mean jogging outside, daylight is best. But if you are talking about exercise that you can do in your home, then anytime is good.

I was just talking about working out in general. I was thinking of the effects in our system. Thanks for your reply.

Okay. I think as long as you do work out, it shouldn't matter what time of day you do it. Many people have weird work schedules and can't work out in the morning. So they do it at night. And There are many who can work out in the day.Exercise is exercise.Whichever time you do it is great. But if you really want to know if you are hurting your body working out at night, ask your doctor.

I think working out is great anytime of the day, as some people never work out. Many of my friends like to work out in the morning, as it helps them start the day feeling refreshed and ready to have a great day. One of them told me that she eats less and feels full faster on days she works out. I work out with them sometimes in the morning.
I prefer to work out in the evening, as am completely awake. I get more out of my work out and feel really good after the work out. If you like to walk or jog, then I would suggest a day time work out would be better for you as safety is a priority. I enjoy lifting weights and do sit-ups and push-ups as part of my fitness several times a week.

It isn't unsafe to work out at night and it's really up to the personal preference of the person. Many people have no choice but to work out at night because there is no other time to do it. Although working out may increase adrenaline, it is only temporary and eventually it subsides enough to get a good night's sleep. As for myself, I prefer the mornings only because I like to get it over with and get on with my day.

I don't think that safety really comes into play as far as morning or evening workouts (Frankly if you are working out at all, no matter what the time, you are way ahead of most people!). From what I understand a downside of working out at night is that you may be wound up for a few hours afterwards, so don't expect to workout at 10 PM and then go to sleep at 10:30, it just won't work for most people. Also by working out in the morning, you are getting your metabolism going for the whole day, so it is a good jump start if you are trying to burn more calories over the day. I tend to prefer working out in the morning, it gives me more energy for the day. But if I can't fit it in the morning, I don't hesitate to get it done in the evening.

Thank you for your response. That is exactly how I feel about working out in the morning, it gives me the energy for the rest of the day. Thanks again amyann16!
