Those tasty treats, what kids make with left overs

I've often watched my son go into the fridge and make himself what he terms a "tasty left-over meal". Today I watched in amazement as he made himself a sandwich of fishcakes, fried egg, spaghetti, tartare sauce and gregs smoked hickory sauce. As I watched him start to eat it he said "mum it's good, try some have a bite" my first thought was "no way", but I took a bite and to my suprise it was actually very good.
He is always making himself combinations of whats in the fridge and we rarely have left-overs for very long, what type of things do your kids, or yourself make?

I would have hesitated as well! What a mix, and it worked! It is amazing how people can 'mix and match' when it comes to food. My husband is Dutch and he comes up sometimes with the strangest food combinations.
He is the cook in the house and every Wednesday it is 'ressies day' Meaning, he will take all the leftovers, and make a very unique Joep special! There is not a shortage when it comes to leftovers in my house because it is just the two of us.
I think I told you, that I would like to start a hub about South-African traditional dishes, but I think one with recipes for just two people will also be informative, because it is sometimes very difficult to cook just for two, what do you think?

Yes you did tell me and I'm looking forward to it as well. I get stuck cooking in the weekends as often its just me, or my son and I, so those recipes for two would be well received on this end! I can't wait to try them just names sound tasty!

oh wow... that really is quite the combination, and you are pretty bold to try it! I have to say that I am not very creative in putting together combinations of foods. Tonight my son put cheez whiz on his hot dog and I thought that it looked really disgusting but my husband notified me that this was not as rare as I thought it was.

I'm pretty much on par with you amyann, the most creative I've ever gotten is popcorn and icecream. Its actually quite nice, I started doing it years ago when going to the movies, just dipping my icecream into the popcorn tub.

I don´t have fridge, so our leftovers go fast. My husband often eats them in the middle of the night (and he wonders why he´s got a belly!) However, I am not a very adventurous person when it comes to food, so I probably wouldn´t come up with much anyway.
However, when I was little, my mom used to make "Clean the Fridge Soup" once a week. She would take a basic soup broth and dump anything that was left in the fridge into the soup. The ingredients were always different, but somehow it always tasted good!
