context of my lot? I am sorry for my ignorance. I have not written even one blog at my lot.
My perception: Discussions are full scale discussions with a number of arguments and explanations. Blogs are for reading and commenting. Or are there more differences?

I agree with you. I think a blog is more like a "journal." And yes a lot of people comment on their friends journals. I guess you could have a discussion on a blog but it probably wouldnt be so detailed like it is on here.
