Well, I just opened this up because my nephew just graduated with honors in his summer kindergarten school and I am very glad that he managed to receive medals. I just realized that day that there were kids that were not awarded with medals and further, I thought there are people who would never experience receiving medals their whole life!!
I also felt lucky that I have received medals too from my school..
How about you??
Have you ever received medals in your life??
What was it for??

Yes, I have receive medals during my school days. I am the class valedictorian in my elementary days so I've got many medals during our graduation. And also when I was in high school I was also an honor student so I also receive medals. One event also was when I joined a declamation contest and I won twice. The prize was a medal. I was so happy during those days because I have felt my importance and the fruit of my hard works. When we are young a medal would mean so much on us. And it somehow build our self-esteem and confidence.

I have about 15 medals in my possession, not to brag or anything. Most of medals were easy to get because I was on a team that was skilled as was I. I am naturally good at sports so I am very active. The medals I have are for tennis, basketball, and soccer.

Yes but it is not a medal because my school didn't have such medal things. I just received like a souvenir or a gift when I graduated with higher grades than other students.

my grand daughter who graduated from kindergarten last april 2007 got a gold medal of excellence and other awards like best in reading, mathematics, most behaved and most neat and i am so proud of her. i experienced the same while i was in my primary years. from the 1st grade up to the 6th level i was always awarded either with the second or third honor medals. while in my secondary level, i got several recognitions in math, current events and spelling. luckily when i reached college, i was awarded a full scholarship grant which helped me finish a degree.

Yes. I have received a lot of medals in my school days. I was a very active participant on almost all the competitions held in my school. I used to take part in the sports activity too a lot. I still remember the last year of my school days, when I got around 12 first prizes and the announcers kept announcing my name for more than 5 minutes. Glad that you brought that sweet memory of mine back to me again now. Thanks for that.

Congratulations on your nephew!
For me, I had received a lots of medals, trophies, ribbons when I was studying. Those are the symbols that you've been studying well, getting good grades BUT having those kinds of stuff doesnt mean that you will be the best when you grow up.
Life was measured on contentment in life, happiness in life and how you had grown to be a better person.
Sometimes its ironic because those people who had been going up on stage every year, received an award, when they grew up, where does their life go? Being successful in Life were not measured on Medals, trophies or ribbons, it was always measured what kind of person you become.
