remotely accessing a computer that has xp from a vista pc

i have been trying to remotely access my other pc, my pc has vista and the other pc has windows xp but i cant seem to do it i get as far as getting a username and password box to access the other pc but it wont let me do anything. there are no login passwords on either pc and i was told there shouldnt be a problem not putting in a password. Anyone help?
