in my experience, when practicing yoga for the first time or after a very long time of not doing so, one would feel mildly sore, especially in the muscles that are hardly used during normal activity. mostly, at the back of my legs when i do deep forward bends. these disappear in a day or two.
the key is to go slow and to practice regularly.

Yoga is one of the safest exercises. When you do yoga you never jump up and down, you never wave your arms, or sit on a ball. Yoga is gentle stretching of the muscles. We have a member in our yoga class who is 92 years old. She enjoys doing yoga and seldom misses a class. You are never too old to begin doing Yoga. Yoga helps to keep you strong and healthy. It is never dangerous or stressful. Good luck to you! Live longer and be happy with Yoga!
