LOL so my husband was out in the garage mucking about as he tends to do on the weekends and he ended up slicing his finger open fairly deeply...So he comes in the house and when the bleeding didnt stop flowing after 10 mins of pressure he realized he'll have to suck it up and get a stitch or two...Well my daughter being the morbid-just-like-mom-dad(bio)-and brother kid that she is, we figured she'd get a kick out of goin to the hospital with him and watchign them do it LOL So I decided to call her out into the kitchen and I said to her with a very serious tone and voice "Honey I need you to do something very important for me" she asks "what" I said "I need you to get the sewing kit and help your stepfather" so she goes gets the kit and walks over to my husband who puts his hand up and goes "think you can stitch me up?" LOL my daughter got shocked face, looked at me, looked at him and then goes "well.....yep I think so but it might hurt a little bit" My hsuband and I damn near died from laughing so hard (cause if we'd really let her, she'd definately TRY to stitch him LOL) It was just too priceless!!! does anyone else enjoy doing things like that to their kids purely for entertainment purposes or am I the only one??

I tend to go more for the embarrassing them in public tactic rather than messing with their heads which I am saving for their teenage years. Whenever we go out for breakfast they always want to play "Truth or Dare"...of course I always pick dare and they'll tell me to sing real loud believing that I won't...they are horrified when I burst into full song at the top of my lungs....lot's of that type of thing

My husband is more of the jokster in our family. He loves to tease the children and play silly make up games with them.

Isn't that one of the biggest reasons to have kids? (joke) I think it's great when a family unit can have fun like that. Far too often thee is a huge divide between parents and kids - one side thinks the other is too immature and the other side wants nothing more than independence. My boys know that I am a huge prankster but over the past few years they have picked up on a majority of them and have bested me when I've tried to get one over on them.

Oh that's awesome! I think it's great that she actually was going to try it. =p Of course my kid is too young for me to have messed him up too much yet, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to mess with his head. So far all I do is call him all kinds of ridiculous names, to the point where I'm amazed that he knows and can say his real name.

That's funny, and it is nice that she was so excited about being helpful! She might have made some pretty nice stitches! I like that one. My son and I try to mess with each other all the time. It used to be just me trying to get him, but now turn about is fair play. His big thing is calling our own phone number and waiting to make it ring, then he tells me it is somebody looking for me about money that I owe them. So, I get all frantic, because I don't think I owe anyone, and grab the phone and start talking and asking questions. Then, I realize no one is on there, so then I have to chase him down and tickle him!

We have always played around with our kids just as you described! The kids have always loved it and we have so many special stories to recall because of the teasing and playing around! We also love to pull pranks on each other. I think that this type of thing really helps bond families. Just my opinion.

Well I am too messed up right now from pain killers (just came home from the emergency room) to come up with examples BUT we mess with our kids all the time. We have fun with it too!

Why else would anyone bother to have kids if we can't mess with their heads and/or embarrass the living daylights out of them? lol I loved the image of your daughter getting ready to stitch up hubby's finger - that could SO easily have backfired on you! lol We mess with my 13 yr old sons head (hey he's a teenager he deserves it!) but my 5 yr old is too smart to fall for it and ALWAYS twists things around - I am the only one with half a chance of getting one over on her! Thanks for the giggle Ravenladyj xxxx

I think that this is one of the best parts of having children. My children are the squeamish type so I couldn't do any pranks such as this. I do however live to embarrass my children in different ways. They also have this kind of behavior which annoys my fiancee who doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor at times.

that's too funny... well, i think parents should keep moments of these in a book or sth, so when kids grow up and they start driving you totally nuts as teenagers, then you can refer to this book and remember the times when they were still cute. kids are so funny when they take everything you say for real!

It's funny you should bring this up because my co-worker and I were talking about tormenting our kids the other day. Not in a mean way, but just for shock value, usually the looks on their faces are priceless when you do something like that. Besides it's fun. So no, you aren't the only one.
