Fun day trips

Do you and your friends or family ever take day trips to somewhere near where you live? I'm talking about the sort of trips where you can leave in the morning and come back that same day, having done and seen all of the things that you wanted to do and see. We've just moved to Seattle, and it seems like the opportunity to take day trips has increased quite a bit. We can drive for an hour, and still be in or near Seattle, but with a whole bunch of new stuff to do and see. Today, I think we are going to drive up to Whidbey Island, which is where my fiance lived when he was much younger. He hasn't been there since he was 10 years old. So we will drive up later, probably have dinner somewhere on the island, and then come back in time to go to sleep tonight. I think it's going to be a blast! :)

I love Whidby Island, I haven't been there in about 20 years but when I was I just loved it, great place to camp. I love Seattle too but that is a 2day trip! My hubby and I do this all the time. We live on Vancouver Island and that stops us from going too crazy, but we love to wake up and just decide to go on a day road trip! What spontaneous fun. I have a feeling that hubby is getting prepared to do something fun today too, who knows where we will end up today! Have fun and enjoy Whidby!

While Thor is home we have a ton of day trips to make, also known as shooting expeditions for his master's project...I expect I will see parts of Southern Illinois that I would prefer not to see like I did the last time he had to go photo crazy. I'm rooting for a day of shooting in the cypress swamps, but I think he intends to go to Bald Knob and boring places like that.

I suppose those Aussies will think that southern Illinois scenery is a different world... which it kinda is. :) At least at Bald Knob, you may get to see the eagles. :)

Yes, we have the wonderful privilege of living just minutes from the Colorado Rockies. We can drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park, enjoy some nature (and some good food in Estes Park) and be home before the sun sets. We also like going to Black Hawk and Central City for a day of gambling. Hope you have a great time on your trip to Whidbey Island!

I live in Renton, right outside of Seattle. We love to take day trips sometimes, but we don't get the opportunit to do it much. The other day we went to Portland for the day and a few weeks before we took a visiting friend to Mt. St. Helens. The beach is also close enough! There are so many day trips that you can take from the Seattle area!

Here where I live, we do a lot of this with the family and friends... We spent a lot of our time traveling to the nearby cities and enjoying each other, it's very cool. We sometimes go by the morning and sometimes by the beggining of the afternoon, to comeback just late at night... As the cities here where I live are very close to each other, we can pass by a lot of them in one day...
