Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours?

it really depends on what stage the baby is at but i think what they mean is that they were in a really deep sleep where nothing could disturb them since even for those two hours that babies do sleep you can make all the noise around them and they will remain sound asleep

That isn't always the case though.
My son sleeps very well, a lot better than myself. When he was first born all he did was sleep and his naps was for ages, only woke up for food and then it was back.
^ I guess that's why.
