"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
-Theodore Roosevelt
I think if we were to do this, more people would find they are happier. So often, we yearn to do things we cannot do or have things that are out of our reach or go places we are unable to go to and it results in us not truly appreciating the things we have. The time may come that one day we will have the things we want, be able to go to the places we would like, and be able to do the things we want, but until then, let's try to make the most of what we have now. What do you think?

Hi :-)
I love that quote i think it is so true.
I truly believe in those words but i sometimes find myself wishing for things i don't have but i am always thankful that i have the things that are most important like the ability to love, and my family and friends. Air to breathe..a roof over my head..there are SO many things.
"There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than for bread."
-Mother Teresa

I think it is human nature to want more and it is part of what drives us. I think the problems arrive when we become so fixated on those wants that we fail to neglect the things we have. I also think that in our technology-saturated world, we forget thst there are ways to do things without using all the technology. My brother-in-law could not figure out what he was going to do when his snowblower quit working he panicked because he could not afford a new one and could not figure out how to get the snow out of his driveway. HELLO!!!! Have you heard of a shovel? He let the snow pile up until a neighbor finally came over and asked if he wanted to borrow their snowblower. Meanwhile, he and my sister kept complaining about their snow filled driveway, and they HAD a shovel in their garage. I tried to tell him he should be thankful he had a driveway to shovel, a shovel, and the health and strength to do it. His response: yeah, yeah, but I don't have a working snowblower.
I also really like your quote from Mother Teresa and completely agree with it. I think EVERYONE hungers for love and appreciation in at least someway, but not everyone lacks food. I am so grateful for those in my life who do provide the love and appreciation I need and I try my best to show my love and appreciation to others on a daily basis.
Thanks for responding.
