My sister and I recently watched numerous seasons of Northern Exposure via netflix.
I had seen some of the show when it was on TV, but never really watched it religiously. However, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed catching up and watching all the seasons in a row.
I think my favorite character is Chris, the DJ, of "Chris in the Morning" fame. Besides being easy on the eyes, I just love all his commentaries on life. He just puts things in perspective so well, that it's so soothing. I wish I had a Chris in the morning here to listen to. All the morning DJ's here are just loud and more stressful first thing in the AM.
Who's your favorite character?

I love LOVE love norther Exposure. I didn't watch it in the original airings, but made it an everyday practice to catch the A&E sydicated episodes when I was in college. Seriously, my day wasn't complete until I got my dose of Cicely Alaska. I know this is going to sounds funny, but college was really stressful for me and watching Northern Exposure gave me a chance to relax, reflect on things, and made me optimistic about life. For some reason, Northern Exposure just makes me feel relaxed and happy.
Now on to my favorite character. It is really hard to pick just one because there are a ton of characters who only show up a few times in the show, but are really memorable. Adam and Eve for instance are great. I always get excited when the two of them show uyp because you know things are going to be funny. I also love Ed. I think that is because of this love of films and his outlook on life. He always seemed like a nice and relaxed guy. Oh, and I would love to go to talk to Ruth Ann to get her advice on things.
Hmmm, talking about the show now is making me want to watch it. I think I'm going to have to update my netflix queue and add some Norther Exposure right now.

I would love to eat at The Brick. In fact, I think I might eat there at least once a day if I lived out there, you know, just to make sure I get some social time in. Though, the thing I would like most is a radio station like KBEAR (I think that is what it's called).

Exactly! There was something about this show that just made it seem like things would be ok, even when things were crazy in your life. Even Joel, with all his adjustment pains and stresses, there was always a lesson to be learned.
Ed is really cool, he was always just so happy go lucky. Even when things were hard for him he kept a good outlook. Ruth Ann would be a great person to get advice from. And I think eating at The Brick would be fun. Especially if Adam was cooking that night!

It's been a long time since I watched the show. I never saw it when it originally aired, but I used to watch it all the time when it was on syndication on the A&E channel.
There have been many memorable characters.
My favorite character is Adam that was played by Adam Arkin. He was that kinda crazy Gourmet Chef who claimed to have worked for the CIA and was part recluse and part jet setter with his wife who was "the heir to the tungston fortune." He is so contrary and so funny, he did paranoia well.
I'm also partial to the Joel Flieschman character (Rob Marrow) who the show was most about.
I liked most fo the characters, but those are the two that standout for me the most.

Oh, definitely Chris! I used to have such a big crush on that character. I really miss this show. There really isn't anything like it on television anymore and it's terrible.

Chris. Always deep and though provoking - generally willing to lend an ear to somebody that needed one. He was like the towns therapist. He wouldn't tell other characters what they wanted to hear - he seemed to try and weigh things out. So, definitely Chris.

I have to say Chris is my second favorite, next to Ed. I like both characters alot, I mean, hell, I like Fleischman and Maggie alot too. Ed's just so simple-minded and peaceful. He's really the epitomy to me of what Northern Exposure's all about. That's why he made that video at the end of season 2 I think, about the town and it's people. Plus he's a huge movie buff, and I am too.
