my son is eight but my daughter is just one and a half year old. I am now thinking of putting her in day care once she turns two. I think that will be okay but then in India you do not get competent day care facilites so, I am slightly scared of sending her to day care.

I agree 2-3 is an age that they like doing other things. My child went and did a pre kindy course at a day care for 2 days a week , it prepared her really well for starting kindy the next year. I do believe however if you cant afford to stay home and look after your kids then dont have them. I know circumstances change though so its hard. I know people who have been a stay at home single mum , swallowing your pride and living on an pension is better than dropping your kids off with someone else.

You are very fortunate in that you can stay at home with your child. Unfortunately, most women are off for 6 weeks after the baby is born and have to go right back to work. I know that was my case. I found a wonderful woman who kept my daughter at her house and did not have to put her in day care.

The company I worked for did not have any family benefits. I did not get a penny during the time I was off. My ex was no help either. No child support at all. I would have loved to have been able to stay at home.

Not everyone has the option to stay at home as long as you did. Some people have to go back to work 6 weeks after having a baby and as a result, the 6 week old baby is in daycare also. It doesn't make you a bad parent. Most households are 2 income based and with one missing, it's very hard to survive.
