How to breed and take care of koi (carp)?

we just finished our pond and we were planning to breed kois in it. can anyone here help us out? We would appreciate any tips suggestions you might have regarding on how to breed and taking care of kois. what other gadgets do i need to keep the fishes happy and the pond clean? the do's and don't's? We would also love to hear about your pet fish/es, like what they enjoy eating and doing.;-)

Well, I don't know for sure but don't you just need a male and some females and then nature takes over?

That's what i thought. just learned from the internet that they need to be at least 3 feet deep to bread and april to july is their mating season and that they tend feed on other kois' eggs, which is a bit discouraging.
