feeding those snakes is not that difficult. there are some types which only eat once a month and some eat twice in a month. some snakes will be content with eggs and some with chicks while still small then they will get bigger in size as the snakes get bigger, too.

Yes, we have 2 Ball Pythons. One is about 12 months old and the other 6 months. We really enjoy their company. And they are both very well mannered. The younger of the 2 it's like a horse. Whenever we do a feeding, the larger usually gets 1 mouse, while the younger one usually eats 3. They are fantastic creatures.

We used to have a snake as a pet :) I small one. We only got rid of it when it got lost through our house and it almost got squished while we were looking for it lol. We let it go in the wild after that.
I would LOVE to own a boa constrictor, but I would never be able to feed it...so I don't think it is the best choice of pet for me! :)

No, never, I could not have snake as pet. It is very dangerous and I and many other afraid of snakes. So the question does not arise to keep it as a pet. There are some people who do this as a hobby and they are very little and rare people. They are professionally snake keepers. They know all about the habits and kinds of snakes. They are brave enough to have snake as pet.

Well, I wouldn't have chosen to have a snake for a pet, but my son wanted one.
We bought a ball python and my son named him Champion.
One day, Champion came up missing. They're known for being escape artists. Champion was missing for seven months when he finally showed up one night at two in the morning.
My husband (ex now) almost tripped over him because all the cats were surrounding Champion in amazement.
Later, we found the skin Champion had shed, in an Oriental carpet we had rolled up behind the sofa.
Apparently, ball pythons can go without food or water for up to seven months. Personally, I don't see the point in it, but I wish my kids could have gone without food or water for at least seven minutes.!

When I was younger, I had a phobia of snakes .
My boyfriend has a Python and he had to move away for a while. He asked me if I could take care of his snake.I was a little scared at first but now I really like it.I realized that there very docile and make for good pets.If you give them a chance I'm sure you will learn to like them.

I probably wouldn't have a snake myself, but I do enjoy them at times.
My brother-in-law is a herpetologist at the Dallas zoo. I used to live with my sister, though, and he often brought his snakes over "for a visit." He first had two Burmese pythons. One was named Dim (short for DiMonster) and the other was Mary. He actually specifically chose them for their DNA I believe. When he finally bred them, I think he had 9 baby snakes, 6 of which were albinos. I thought that was pretty cool, but eventually he sold all of them.
When I visited in Dallas with them for awhile, we would go "herping." We'd go out on deserted roads after a rain so that the snakes would go to the streets for warmth. We'd then go and keep our eyes on the sides of the road looking for all the creatures! Once we found a massosaga (not sure of the spelling) which is highly venomous, although it is a small snake. Pretty neat.
