As a present to me for my birthday my son took us to our favorite mexican restraunt for dinner.I was semi dressed for the evening and was planning on going to do some shopping before going home. The dinner was going great and than my son told the waiter it was my birthday - his responce was o really! I expected the usuall everyone gathers to sing and embarese me thing, well they brought the mexican hat and all gathered to sing, as the song was ending I was slapped in the face with a plate of whipped cream.Needless to say I was majorley ticked, I could not believe what had just happend, now I have been to many restraunts that sing and act silly at your table but never had I seen someone at a restraunt hit someone in the face like that.
As I tried to keep my cool I asked for the manager, the hostess came and could not believe they did that, but the waiter said they did that to everyone, I proceded to tell him you dont know me well enough to know how I would react to something like that and I did not find it funny in any manner. So I told the lady I would not be paying for this meal and I would never come back to this restraunt, the waiter came back a few min. later and said they were offering me 10% off my meal, I said I dont think so.
As we went to the front the manager was at the check out and I took him the bill and said I am not paying for this bill I dont appreciate them ruining my evening and they could call anyone they wanted but I wasnt paying for it.He just stood there and looked at me as I walked out.I half expected to see the police at my door but never happend.
Was I wrong to act this way,I didnt disrupt the whole restraunt I was semi quiet but I dont feel it was the right thing to do to someone.
What would you have done?

I would be angry too! I think that is definitely going too far. I don't know why the restaurant would allow such a cruel trick to be played on people on their birthday. It's embarassing and insulting. Since it's your birthday celebration, I'm assuming you must have made efforts to dress up and look nice and for a waiter to slap your face with whipped cream like that is just too much! I'm glad you did not pay for the meal. I hope that send a message to them that not everyone appreciates the jokes they try to play.

I am sorry but I find this very hard to believe at all. Even if a familoy member had planned to do this I don't know that any sensible employee in any restaraiunt anywhere in the world would do this with the way people sue businesses all over. I'm sorry but this is absolutely unbelieveable. If it did happen I'd have called the cops because that was and is assault. Plain and simple assault on a person. That's why I cant even phathom this ever occuring anywhere at all. But if it did I can't believe you didn't call the police yourself if it upset you this much. Would you allow a waiter/waitress to slap you and not call the police also? sORRY THIS IS JUST TOO HARD TO BELIEVE IT OCCURED AND YOU DID NOTHING AT ALL IF IT DID HAPPEN.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Good morning grandpa bob I can assure you I am not a lier!!!, it did happen my family member did not plan it he told them it was my birthday and it is there custom to smear whipped cream in your face after singing happy birthday to you. I have spoken with others and they have assured me that it has happend to them as well and they thought it was funny. Well I didnt think it was funny at all.
And I did what I thought was right at the moment so as not to cause such stir in the restraunt, I refused to pay and walked out!
I am so sorry that you think I would just make up a story like that. Have a great day!!!!

Oh My Gawwdd. That's unreal. Why didn't you report this to the police then? I would have been so ticked off. I'd have gotten a lot more than a free me let me assure you. Noone other than the restaraunt staff planned this then? That's TOTALLY uncalled for actually. Some strange tradition for a business to do in the USA. Well I am truely sorry for you. I'll have to remember never to eat at ANY Mexican restaraunts the next time I'm in Ohio. Hahahahaha!!!

Although it was a harmless thing as I was not harmed, they just do it for a birthday funny I dont know maby mexicans think this was funny. When they saw how upset I was the started appolligsing they said no one had gotten upset about it before it was all in fun.I just didnt happen to think it was fun. There were five of us in the dinner party so the bill was $60.45 I refused to pay and told them they could call the police i didnt care I wasnt paying the bill and I would never return there.
