Do you give money or food to the beggars? Which one you prefer to give money or food? Is giving them really helps or am i wrong if i give? What if they just beg because of their lazyness? I mean we dont know, because i have heard once that some other beggars are just lazy..But watching them like that really makes me feel pity..Sometimes if i look at those guys all i can say is " If i am rich i'll help these guys"...And if have some extra then i'll give them bread, not money because It happened to me once that after i give money to a little girl she just bought it some useless thing.. When that happened to you that someone begs? What will you do?

I think I would give them food if I should give something to them.I don't believe they are really poor and have no ability to make money,to support by themselves. Some beggers are also the trickers. They trick human's sympathy. Some of them even are richer than us,so I needn't to give them money. If I have to give them something,I would choose the food.Don't let them be hungry. And let them know if want to have money, pleast to make on your own. There is no free lunch in the world unless they are handicapped.

Hi bimflux. For me, I will always try to help the needy. If I have money, I will give some. It doesnt bother me if they used the money to buy what they like. What matter is we give help.

I think you've got to the main point. Beggars are in a bad spot in life and its good to have a heart. Unfortunately, I don't often live up to the ideals that I set for myself when it comes to this.

I know I feel bad when I see it too but I think it's better to give to organizations.I give to Goodwill quite a bit and Salvation Army.Food I guess isn't a bad thing but the food banks would proably benefit better from it.

for me, the best way to help a begger is to give him a suitable job according to their abilities. if you give him food, he cane at for 1 or 2 days. if you give him money he might probably eat for 1-2 weeks.but if you give him a job. he can eat for the whole days.

if i were to choose, i'd rather give food than money. atleast i'll know that it will be good use to them. unlike giving them money. i will wonder if they will really buy food out of the money i gave them or buy something isn't worth it at all. i have seen lots of beggars just doing it because they say, they earn a lot from begging everyday. and won't you believe that there are some who even do bettings out of the money they get from begging.. i mean, geeze! what are they thinking? hmm.. i'll go for food. - anne

I believe in dignity of labour. I feel one should have self respect not to beg and try to do something about one's situation. I feel it is easy to take pity and giver some alms or food that doesn't improve their situation. I feel if one really wants to help person shoul;d help them to get some work so they can fend for themselves, that way they can get some self respect and understand imp. of dignity of labour too. Moreover begging is illegal too and helping them out is discouraged.

This is hard to decide on. My husband and I have given money to beggars in the past, but it is hard to decipher whether or not they could just go out and get a job. It varies with each individual to be honest.

Hi, bimflux, I never give food or money to the beggers except those who beg at the temple front becase as a custom I have to give something to beggers; otherwise I hate to give beggers food or money. When I was young I used to give beggers a lot, money as well as food. When I grew up then I learned many things about their illegal and immoral activities. Then I totally stopped giving them anything.

Giving them food is better. We have the same idea, if only I have enough money, I'll help them. Well, we can have a better life, just work hard. I agree that some of those people are lazy... hmmm I don't know, this is complicated.

i think moeny giving and food is a temporarily way to meet their needs and as soon as they are going to utilize it and finish it tehy are again going to need that kin of help, so i'll try my level best either to force tehm to work or give them enough money to start their livelihood. i never give anything to beggers. i think it won't help!!

I wont give to all the beggars in the street. I will really choose the ones to give, after I have decided to give. Because, as you have said, many of them are just idle guys who dont want to do any job. I will always give to the old beggars, or to those who are handicapped by some way. If choosen, I will always try to give them money. Because if they really need, they can buy the food from the money. But if they needed money, giving food to them will be of no use to them.

If the beggar looks old and thin,I will give them a little money or food it depends what they beg . If the beggar looks young and strong ,I will not.Maybe you are right that they beg only because of their lazyness or they are richer than I.But I only do it to release my mood of pity.I can not research the reason that leads them to beg,so after giving I do not think about it.I just think I have done a good thing and they are need helpness whom I have given.

Well, I had thought of the same thing too. If I have all the money in the world, I would put up a house for all those beggars with food, clothing and everything they need to live. As what to give, I always give beggars food, as long as I have. No matter how hard they beg, I never give them money. I just felt it's not right. And, it's against our laws here to give money to those people who beg. The least I can do for them is buy them food but never give money. That's what I do. And about the laziness that you were talking about, yes maybe you are right. But, I am a nursing student and we had a medical mission and we fed beggars on the street. I came to talk to one of them and she just said that, there are no jobs available for them and they won't get noticed either. They cannot sell because they do not have capital. They even sleep on the streets. I just felt my heart that if there is something to do to those people, if only there is something I can do to help, I would absolutely won't hesitate. :(

actually, i just choose those people that i give money with. it's mostly money and not food. i have this belief that when u always gave to beggars, they will become lazy and will not work anymore. always depending on asking money from strangers. so i just choose. when i see that the person is well-abled (young, strong and can still work) then i don't give but if i see if that person is old and disabled and the likes, then i give something, money mostly.

It depends.. but usually i dont give beggars any money. whyy? because most of them are illegal immigrants here in my country and furthermore, they are not disabled. they can go and find some work for a living but instead they choose the easy way out by begging people for money. some of the illegal immigrants childrens can be seen wandering around the city and harrasing tourists, and begging for food from them. it is really a sad thing and an embarrasment to the city.

It is true that there is a gang of beggers everywhere with a leader and the "employees" will have to pay some percentage of their "income" to the leader. In my place police have booked many such gangs. But there are innocent beggers who comes on holidays. They want some amount and clothes and we will pay amount and rarely give old clothes.

I think giving them real help is better than money and food. Such as offering a job for them. So they can depend on themselves and they can live in a normal life. Everybody has to work to make a living.

i give money to the beggars, so that they can buy things and food for themselves. i can't say that does it help them or not ecause some of the beggars are professionals and other are really very poor. i give them money because it's easy and better for them.
