I got a letter today with some information about the further investigations regarding my smear-test. I have an appointment at surgery 21st of June, wich is next week. I started crying when I recived it, ridicilous I know - but I am just soooo scared. It is said in the letter that it will happen under local anaesthesia and that they will remove a piece of something(dont know the english word) and I had soo hoped that they would knock me out so that I did not have to be there at all. I am really scared and now I have a date to also connect my fear to.. 21st of June...

I know you are scared sweety, perhaps you can call the doctor and ask to get a general anaesthesia instead of a local one, probably just what they usually give and unless otherwise directed they dont' give anything else, I am sure they will let you have a general, especially if you are that scared. I hope everything turns out okay, keep us apprised at what happens and know we care about you.

You should call them and ask them if they give you any sediatives as opposed to the general anaesthesia? Perhaps they would not mind giving you something mild to calm their nerves, I am sure you are the first person who would have asked such a thing and if you don't ask you will never know.

Try not to worry. It sounds like they are doing a biopsy to see what is going on. Just do what they tell you and go to your appointments and I am sure things will turn out okay...good luck.

well, even at times when we say to ourselves not to worry, we still do. i guess it is one natural way to react to it. but you are right icequeen. it's always better to follow doctor's orders and attend the appointments. sometimes, it tiresome and very frustrating but it will surely benefit us... anne

I will keep you in my prayers, try not to be too afraid, they will give you something to calm your nerves and something so you dont feel pain, and it'll be over before you know it. I don't know, but it sounds like you are having a cone biopsy.

Marie, I had to have a part of my cervix removed a few years ago due to pre-cervical cancer. I can say it didn't hurt, more like after wards it was uncomfortable, but not painful. I can't even remember the shot they gave me to numb me. Just remember this isn't something to fear, not having it done is. Don’t get yourself all stress out over it sweetie, your taking care of yourself.

Thanx alot for this. It feels good to hear that someone who has been through it doesnt even remember it =) That gets me more positive. I guess my biggest fear is that it will hurt alot since I will be awake...

Hello marie. Just try to look at the brighter side. I can understand how scared and affected you are. Maybe it is just a simple case of cyst (looks like a small grape) which is quite common among women. Your boyfriend will be there to lend you support as well as my prayers for your impending operation.

I do hope that it turns out to be nothing and I am trying to stay positive, but it is hard at times, especially when I am not doing anything but sit around and think. I am back at work today so it has given me some time off from thinking =)

if i were in your shoes, i would freak out, too. being in a surgery, no matter how good they make it sound to be okey, i will still feel so uneasy about the whole thing. so, you aren't ridiculous... you are just being true and being you. i just hope that things will be fine. and that as you said, the anesthesia will really knock you out so you won't be awake in all these. creepy! gosh. i am imagining it already. sorry. just be safe and hope everything will be okey. i know your boyfriend will be there for you. don't forget to update us. get well really soon marie! - anne

Hi There Marie, My name is Debbie and I know exactly how you feel. I was in an auto accident and had to have two surgeries and a (dont know the name of it ..long word), so dont feel bad, but I need another surgery and I have a heart condition called mitrovalve prolapse, any way I cant be put to sleep for too long for the fear as my doctor said in not so many words that I need another surgery and I have a chance of being paralized or not waking up. So my advice to you is local anaesthesia is really not that bad. It is better than being put to sleep and if I had a choice I would choose local but I have no choice that is why I am not doing this next surgery. So, hold your head up high, be brave, and think of good things like your family and that you will actually see them instead of wondering if your gonna see them or not. Pray, pray and pray, it really helps and when the time comes for your test think of all of the happy things in your life and that you will still have all those happy things. Remember it is normal to be afraid but think happy thoughts and I will be praying for u. If u need anything or need to talk I am here to listen(or as I should say AIM me or pm me) . My email address is lildlege@aol.com AIM: lildlege I also have myspace IM lildlege, so please feel free to ask me anything and I will be praying for u. Good luck and I know everything will be fine even though it doesnt seem like it right now. Your Friend, Debbie

Sweetie, I know that you are scared....please try not to worry yourself so...the biopsy that they are taking will help them better understnd what is going on....it will be easier to face when you know for sure what you are dealing with....this does not mean that something is wrong....many women have had to go through this because something on their pap smear looked suspicious...or questionable....and many times it ends up that they just need a more frequent check up for a few months.... I know it is hard to go through this and I am praying for you everyday, Marie.....please know that you have a support system of friends here who deeply care and are concerned for you..... Take care....try not to panic, my friend.....

I know that it is for a good thing and that IF it would turn out to be something it would be agood thing that they caught it in an early stage. I am glad to atleast have a supportsystem like u say, so many people have to go through rough things all by themselves =(
