I have a discussion about finding a tortoise in California and saving him.It was all going fine until someone told me they thought it was a tale.I believe that they may think that I made the story up. I have lived alot in my life and have many stories to tell..some are quite strange. My question is do you lie on Mylot and pretend it's real? If I am making something up I make it clear that it is not real. What about you?

My life is so weird I don't need to lie (much) on mylot. I did just tell a little fib in the last post I made. I wrote something about my husband having a rubber car and driving it in reverse to the hardware shop. The rubber part wasn't true.

When you write about things that happen, or happened in your life, there are always people here who don´t believe it. They think you´ve made the story up in order to get responses. Some stories which I´ve seen here seem to be invented, but even if they are, I don´t mind. I generally give them the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes the truth sounds more unbelievable than anything invented. I don´t make things up here and pretend it´s real, because I think I´ve got enough true stuff to post :-). Dana

I have never ever thought in this direction. I actually am not very concernt what others do, I try to concentrate what I do on myLot. I dont lie here because lying here is not going to benefit me in any manner. In fact I have confessed to many true things about me, my secrets that I wouldnt have dared to confess in front of others.

Hello raydene. It can be difficult to decipher everyone's real thoughts here. Some may agree with you, others will disagree with you. It is not impossible to see many posters lying here. Everyone has the prerogative to choose whether to lie or not. After all, this is a forum. We are all virtually faceless. We can't expect everyone to be honest too. I don't normally respond to a topic if there's nothing I can contribute. It's not my style to make up a story just to make my response more plausible. I can easily skip the topic and move on to another one.

i can tell a lie but it is white lie...white lies are intently made for a good purpose and not to misled anybody... a bad lie is like you saw Joe took the $ from John although you were not around when the incident happen. So it is ok to lie if you have noble intensions... so what if you a saw a turtle on the beach of california although there are no beaches in California...gee am I right about that?

People who lie are not real. That's how I see it. If you lie to me about something and I find out otherwise, it will be the end of a good friendship. That's how I see it, so I prefer to be honest to everyone that I meet. So no, love, I don't lie at all.

I do not have it in me to,lie sis.I have always hated lies , I think if people start to tell lies then they have to tell more and more until the can't remember what is the truth and what is a lie , I would never have though anyone here would lie , well certainly not anyone I have got to know , I suppose some people might but why? its seems daft to me but then thats me , If I can't think of a discussion ( happening a lot right now ) then I just answer other peoples , I for one pal love to hear your stories and I KNOW yours are all true xxx

Hey Raydene, I believed you, and I was rather pleased with what you had to say. Why would someone think THAT was a lie? It was logical, and plausible. I was accused in the last week or two of lying, and it made me resent the know it all gal quite a bit. It was not even my discussion, but was a discussion about the pros and cons of daycare, and the educational advantages or disadvantages of such. (oops, I am slipping, this is not about me) I could tell tales and make things up and say "what if", but, like you, if it were a tale, I would say so. It is true, sometimes people are jealous or envious of people with wide ranging experiences, and so they cut them down.

I think most people are telling the truth for the most part. I mean, maybe you might exaggerate something to spice up the story a bit, but a lot of times truth is stranger than fiction anyway, so there is no need to embellish. I am sure some people are totally making things up, but not a big percentage of people. I mean, finding a tortise and saving him is a plausible and believable story. It's not like you said you were walking down the street and saw a $1000 bill that someone had dropped or something. But even that COULD happen.

I am sincere. No need to lie. if i have no opinion, i just ignore the discussion. I am a writer and can tell tales too, but this is exausting and no need to do it. I am here to discuss, not to demonstrate my fantasy:-)

I am pretty cynical when it comes to certain things but I dont think you would bother making something like that up. Isn't it said that the truth is stranger than fiction.

I have had so many bizarre things happen to me in my life that I'm almost afraid to tell people about them for fear of them thinking that I'm lying. But if you read something about me that I've written I guarantee it's the truth. As far as other people go, with some I have my doubts because something just doesn't ring true to me and some I know flat out that they're lying because it's obvious they've cut and pasted from a news article or some online reference material and I've even seen one who has literally copied someone else's discussions word for word. I never believe anything these people say. Fortunately I think those dishonest types are few and far between and for the most part people's personal stories I find to be truthful.

Raydene, I believe it could be just some misunderstanding. Equating it to a tale does not mean that it is a tale. The person could be drawing reference to it, except that he might not have done a good job explaining it clearly. My apologies if I am one of those who made you think you have lied. In myLot, there are many opportunities for hypothetical questions, and I am sure it can be easily detected even if it is not made clear. In my opinion, using personal experiences and examples is one good way of posting a topic as it can be explained more clearly and explicitly. In fact, it makes the discussion more worth responding. As long as I responded to any discussion, the discussion is definitely worth my attention. Cheer up :)

It is strange how some people read into things. Almost expect you to be as bad as they must be. I took you story as it was. I am how and what I am. Too much energy to be anything else. Not sure where that responder is coming from. Don't give it another thought. They have their own issues and surely do not need to respond to anything that they think is false.

I have enough in my life to keep track of without making things up :) Let alone all the things I've experienced or not experienced depending on the discussion at hand. When people on here post I take them for what they post and consider it to be geniune. I think that's why a couple of posters on here are a bit confusing to me because they are usually meaning their posts as jokes but it can be hard to tell. So I can see in those instances why they have gotten some misconstrued responses. I just steer clear of them if I'm not sure.

That's a good question becaues I have never thought about that. I have never lied and never thought about someone else lying. I would hope that people here on mylot are telling the truth. It wouldn't be the same if we found out that some people are lying.
