I'm a bit upset right now ...

I thought I'll get a bit of anger off my chest. Not sure if I'm even aloud to discuss this, but here goes ... We have a masive strike on the go. It's so bad that all the schools had to close, and that a week before the exams. My son has been out of school for 1 week now, and it doesn't look like it's going any better this week. Our teachers get threatened if they go to school, patients are stopped from entering hospitals, it's a disgrace. On Wednesday all public services will come to a standstill. Don't know what's going to happen, but it doesn't sounds good. it's all just very frustrating when there's absolutely nothing you can do. Ronelle Fulton SA

Ronelle that sounds like an absolute nightmare! I haven't heard anything about this over here and I know it isn't any consolation but surely if things are that bad there must be a reason for it? I hope things get settled quickly and that your son does well in his exams ! xxx

You're definetly not in a great situation but what can you do but wait it out? If the teachers are striking (or anyone for that matter) I have to give them a little credit and support. Often they are underpaid and striking for a reason. I say good for them, it's a shame the companies invovled won't pony up more dough and much of the responsibility lies with them and thier greed. Violence entering into the equation is a bad thing. I hope things work out for the best and that the strike ends soon. Minnie Mouse is HOT! filmbuff

Oh I absolutely agree with that. Non of the ministers will be able to survive 1 day with that salaries. It's incredible to think that they (ministers) get a increase of 30 persent, but cause a strike to last almost 2 weeks, costing the country billions, and that over a meagre 12 persent increase. xxx Ronelle

I have read that it involves teachers, nurses and other public sector workers all for them wanting a 12 cent salary increase and have been offered only 6 cents. IMO I think they should accept the 6 cents go back to work and give a period of negotiation, say 3 months, before going on an all out strike which will really impose a hardship on all their fellow citizens.

Well, they actually wants a 12 persent increase on their salaries. The government has upped their offer to 7.5 persent increase on their salaries, as well as increases on their pension, housing, medical, etc., which comes to a more or less 13 persent increase! And guess what? They don't see it that way and doesn't want to accept it! I'm starting to think I should work for the government(NOT). I do think the striking workers should get an increase, but to not take this offer is rediculous.- Ronelle
