I have always wanted to enroll in an architectural institute to fulfill my dreams of becoming an architect but financial problems hindered me from doing so. Now I am enrolled in a state university's program for civil engineering - this means I am not taking up the course which I really like. Nevertheless, I have plans of really studying architecture - no matter what!

Sort of - computer science was my second choice for a long time. I wanted to become a librarian. However, a librarian's job doesn't pay enough, and I wanted to get out into the working world A.S.A.P, so I enrolled in the game programming department of a pretty good technical college. I enjoy what I'm learning because I like to make things and solve problems. Sure it's a pain to sit there and go through hundreds of lines of code to find the simplest of problems, but the feeling of accomplishment I get from actually making a program is what keeps me going. I like knowing that, with my education, I could sit down and create my own computer game if I wanted to (actually, one of my current assignements is to do just that - we're making a dice game called Farkle). In my major, they say that ideas are a dime a dozen - with what I'm learning, I have a better oppurtunity to bring my ideas to reality, that's why I'm pursuing a game design degree.

I always wanted to become an electronic engineer. But my relatives especially my mothers sisters(one of them is a nurse and one is alab technician) wanted me to become a doctor. But I was always dis-interested.But when all my friends who got less marks than me in school went about in taking medicine,I too thought why cant I too??So I too went about and took the same to become the first doctor in our family.

definitely not, which is sad. i'm taking up nursing, actually i'm in my fourth year already, after a degree in biology. biology i liked fine, but nursing, not so much. but we have to do what we have to do right? or is that 'take the course we have to take?' hehe. anyway i'd rather be taking a degree in fine arts or in literature, but my parents consider these courses too impractical for someone who lives in the philippines :(

There's math courses that are required in order to earn my degree, but I think they're pointless and I hate taking them. I'm earning an English degree, so why do I need to learn polynomials and the FOIL method? WHY?! I don't think I do. I've only been on this earth for 32 years, but I've NEVER had a need for any of the math I've been taking in these course. Pointless. Annoying.

i'm taking up an engineering degree. and i also can't figure out why i'm required to take a formal and creative course. however, it helps to know. actually, i can write better, in a more concise way such that my thoughts are not scattered. in your part, i think math is required for analytical thinking. heck, engineering graduates hardly use differential equations when they work. FOIL means first outer inner last, right? it's the order in which you multiply binomials (only). thanks for the response
