Is black a more slenderizing color? Is it better to wear dark colors if you want to appear more slender?

I have never heard that wearing white makes you look fatter but it is true that dark colors are more slenderizing. Wearing horizontal stripes is a definite no-no unless you are skinny as a rail. What is true about white is that it can help you look younger. White adds light and brightness to your face, minimizing the look of dry skin and lines.

I hadn't thought of that PW! I bet it would also give an extra "glow" to tanned, olive, or darker skin. I've always liked the look of soft yellow on dark skin myself. I'm pale and I generally gravitate towards black... a habit I'll eventually have to break I think.

My husband has said to me, using a quote from Al Bundy "Honey, it's not the dress that makes you look fat...it's the fat that makes you look fat!" He lived with that black eye for about a week and now we use the first half of that joke as a 'punch-line' to questions like this! lol...lol..lol... ;~))

Not everyone could quote Al Bundy, and only we older ones would even know who he is, right? But white over butt and gut...is not pretty...on me, at least.

Yes, there is no doubt about it! If you don't believe it put on something in solid white and stand in front of a full length mirror! Black and navy blue are both very slenderizing. You can prove that by standing in front of the mirror with that color on as well. Also vertical stripes are slenderizing and horizontal stripes make you look fatter.

I think so. Wearing black or dark colors make me look thinner. If I wear a grey pair of pants I would definitely look slimmer than wearing a pair of white ones.

Yup, wearing black does make you look slimmer and stylish. But, white is a cool colour too. It shows off your tan, if you have one. And yes, if you want to look slender, it is advisable to wear dark colours. Dark colours have that amazing effect to look thinner.

True, wearing black can make you look slimmer and same goes with vertical stripes. But for the white thing making you appear fatter, I haven't really heard of that. And I guess it's not quite true. Well, for me wearing white makes you look a lot neater and younger.
