I am looking to relocate and am unsure what city is the best. I need a beach but dont want hurricanes and need to be on the east coast. I am currently looking at Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA and Jacksonville, FL. I am also considering Wilmington, NC but dont know much about it. Does anyone have any suggestions that might live around these areas???? I need some help?

How can you say you don't want hurricanes but be looking at Charleston, SC etc. I live in Savannah, we live with the threat of hurricanes every year. I have lived here for 30 years and only once was there a mandatory evacuation. We are lucky in Savannah. If you look at the map of the east coast Savannah is located in a little niche or nook in the coast and most of the hurricanes pass us to reach the coastline that juts out above us.

I understand there is always a threat for hurricanes but i am looking for something just like savannah where the threat isnt as great. Now south florida is someplace i definitly dont want to live due to the hurricanes. what about jacksonville? do you like jacksonville at all?

I am also considering moving to Columbia, SC. I have never been there, but I did live in Jacksonville, NC. Right outside of the marine base...great place for single females to go...98% males! Not Joking! We lived 7 miles from the ocean, which was the best! I loved it there, no complaints! When I left...about 3 months later, the place I was renting was destroyed by a hurricane! Scary!
I would not let the possibility of hurricanes keep me from moving back down there -I would evacuate if a hurricane was expected to hit...I would never stay, reguardless of how strong! I would be terrified! But, don't let hurricanes keep you from going where you want! One can find flaws in any state if you think about it. Follow your heart and your dreams!
