And if so, what? Money? We used to get money when I was a kid, my kids are telling me their friends get expensive electronics and other things. Some people don't believe in it.

It would be nice to be able to afford nice things for good grades. My eldest daughter has had straight A's since 3rd grade! But we have seven children and we really can't afford to give out cash or gifts for good grades.
My partner says that school is their job. Their grades are what they are paid with. In the end, those grades earn them a scholarship if they work hard. Their good grades benefit them...not us. So, my partner does not believe that we need to reward them.

We used to give our kids a small amount of money when they were younger. If they ever hit me with 'my friend got this' I told them I'm not your friend's mother.
I didn't give the kids expensive stuff. If they wanted something that bad they worked for the money to buy it themselves.
