Do you shop for convenience? Or value?

Specifically, I wonder how often MyLotters will pay extra for something because it's more convenient than the cheaper alternative. For example, buying a frozen lasagna rather than buying the separate ingredients (usually the cheaper alternative) and making it oneself. I know I'm guilty of choosing convenience over cheapness, but that's been changing recently as I've moved into my own place and started buying my own groceries. I've noticed its become worth it to me to take the extra time to make my own food instead of buying the convenient, expensive premade things.

I'm a moderate in this respect, of course even preprepared foods I buy in bulk at the local Costco, so that I am very keen on value. However, there are times convenience comes into play. I think that a balance is a wonderful thing in ones life. Getting married soon I do eat in a lot, as we both share cooking duties, and most of that is mostly from scratch, the quick meals when something else is going on is what drives my use of preprepared foods.
