I also can't wait to see the movie. I am going to see it with my boyfriend. We are going to buy tickets in advance.

I think there's many factors in that. For instance, it could be that the 1st impression people watch it and they like it and it's like "I want to watch the next episode." For me, when I 1st watched it, I liked it and I thought it would be pretty good so I watched it every week.
Could a show like Family Guy have that type of effect? I do think it is possible but that's going to be very tough. I will still continue to watch it as long as its long TV. The Simpsons plateau is probably the hardest to reach given how long its been on TV.

The thing about the simpons, is that they are very origional. They were the first animated sitcom.
All their episodes are different, with constant new, twisted and interesting storylines.
Each character is well devloped, to which many people assimilate themselves to.
the parody on many real life situations is probably what attracts viewers to the show. Everyone gets tires and exhausted from their everyday businesses. So, watching a funny approach to those same problems on a tv show, allows people to relax and maybe evern learn a thing or two.
Family guy does have some funny moments; but its nothing more than a rip of from the simpsons.

The Simpsons is by far and away the best cartoon ever to have graced the TV screen. Why? It has a great cast of different characters and with Homer as the main character who can fail to be amused by his MCP antics interspersed with moments of sublime compassion when dealing with Marge.
Long live the Simpsons.

I think The Simpsons is a successful show because it has managed to remain original and unique since it's birth. Even if other shows copy it, it was still the original, in it's genre...whatever that genre may be. I wish other shows wold stop copying the Simpsons and get their own ideas.
