Why is Tenchu so hard?!!

Arggh!! I just started playing Tenchu (Stealth Assassins, the first one) and I'm starting to hate it already :( But they say it's a good game so I knew there's got to be something about it that I can figure out. It's just that the controls can be so annoying sometimes (the arrows), like just when you're about to sneak behind a guard to slit his throat you go the wrong way and end up being seen by the guard, leading to am uneventful confrontation arggh!!
Any tips guys? Thanks!

Get well oriented with the controls first. Once your very well aware of how you navigate with the controls, you just have to observe your victim until your really sure when you could really get them down.

Tenchu is more of a stealth game rather than an action one. Its just that going by the anime, i never knew that ninjas moved so slowly in the game and they don't even jump that high. I mean i don't want them to do a super jump or something like that. Its just that their jumps seem more human rather than ninja. I had a hard time with the arrow controls as well. The analog controls are much harder. But once you get used to it, then its a piece of cake.

The only thing you should get used to in Tenchu is the rotation... you turn the body using the left and right controls, then go forward and backward with the up and down controls. That's how Tenchu goes.
Happy gaming! The first game is definitely the most difficult, Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins is not that hard but there are a lot of missions. Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven is more difficult, now that you have to use the analog controls in the PS2.

my points of tips. about tenchu.
- master the controls by practicing in the training mission.
- always check your location in the map.
- the style is in the title already.. play in stealth.
- always do assassinate. bcoz thats the only way of killing without trace.
- just what seishiro said. rotate your view. always check for possible ways.
- if you wanna play easy use cheats or gamesharks.
i guess thats it. more power.
