Scariest movie ever?

One of my favorite scary movies is "The Exorcist" with Linda Blair. I'm not sure why it ranks in my top five scary movies of all time, but it does. Another surprisingly scary movie is "Secret Window" with Johnny Depp. I think that's what it's called, anyway. I don't think they intended for it to be scary, but it turned out that way. The idea that you could be committing so many bad deeds without even knowing it, is kind of spooky. Anyway, funny story about "Secret Window". The night I watched it, I was laying in bed, with the door partially closed and a little light coming from the hall. And, I swear, I saw someone walk past the door down the hall. I lay in bed for half an hour frozen in terror. It's funny now thinking about it. But, at the time I had convinced myself that someone was in the house. That's when I added the Secret Window to my all time scary movie list. So, what movies are on your list? Please share.

I'm with you beautyqueen26. The Exorcist is my favourite horror movie, and I can just about quote it word for word. Another which I enjoyed was The Grudge. Anything with kids in it is a bit freaky, especially girls with long black hair, lol!

And, that poor little boy! That was freaky. There was a boy in there, right? And, why the heck did the guy drown the cat, too. What did the poor cat ever do to anyone? I haven't seen the second one, so please tell me it's as scary as the first. Oh, and what about the original version. Haven't see it. I'd have to watch it subtitled. What did you think about "The Ring"? I watched that one morning really early and it scared the living daylights out of me. Spooky!

Yep, there was a boy. And, no I haven't seen the second one yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I liked the Ring as well, and thought the original Japanese version much scarier than the one with Naomi Watts (wasn't it?). I just feel the Japanese can make a creepier movie for some reason!

That's so funny! I was going to ask you that question. I figured you had seen the original version of Ring. I didn't know if it was any good. I haven't seen the original Ring movie, but I think I'll watch it now. Thanks for the recommendation.

I've heard that there were literally lines of people around the block, in Los Angelos when the Exorcist first came out. And, they waited for hours to see the movie. And, people who had gone into the theatre earlier, were coming out throwing up and getting sick, and just freaking out. It really scared the people in line! That's what I've heard, anyway.

For me `Shining` takes the first place and about newer versions of horror movies `Ring` and same kind of movies are really scary too. And also i highly recommend Wolf Creek if you want to watch the most annoying movie ever.

For me, I'd say Watcher in the Woods leads the pack. Followed by Disturbing Behavior (Katie Homes, James Marsden), and The Birds. I know Alfred Hitchcock's films were a while ago, but The Birds creeped me out tremendously. : )

The only movies that ever really scare me our movies that are REALLY based on true life. For instance there is this movie from the early 80's called "The Entity" It's about a woman who is basically raped and beaten by an entity. It was a case study from the early 70's. That... is crazy to me. The "Mothman Prophecies" is also a story that was based on things that happened in real life. I'm always a bit creeped out by those stories with really simple plot lines. "Jeepers Creepers" takes place in a 24 hour time period. A brother and a sister are driving home over college spring break when they are hunted by this being. But really, I've never truly been scared by a movie. Just a little creeped out or on the edge of my seat during the movies. I love "horror" and "Scary" movies.
