I hate crowds honestly I do. I panic with them and everything! I went out with a couple of my friends on Dec.23 last year to do some extra christmas shopping, now that was the last day for shopping so that was just insane anyway. LOL. Although I had to go because one of my friends brought her 15 year old daughter and she was there to get her mom a present cause she lost hers, and I went to make sure that she had enough money to get the gift and help pay for it if necessary. Anyway, we ended up going out for supper at I think the only restaurant that was open and it was packed. I mean 1 table and it was dirty! I knew it was packed because of the parking lot and so each time I took a step towards the door I would start to shake and I lost my appetite and I was hyperventilating and everything else that comes with a panic attack. Now my "friends" thought this was extremely funny, we were all very tired and so we were all very giddy but I didn't see the humour in this at all! So we sit at this one and only available table and are given menus. I hold this menu up and I am shaking so much that I can't even read it. Well they all just started to roar again. So now not only was I freaking because of the amount of people in there but they were ALL looking at us! Ya that made it so much better! I did make it through the supper then we were on our way to Walmart and I thought if there are alot of people there then I am staying in the car! LOL. Fortunately they were all at the restaurant. So we went in there and now my two friends went one way and her daughter and myself went the other way. That was fun we were playing hide 'n' seek for awhile there. LOL We didn't want her to see what section we were in so we were ducking and diving out of her way. Anyway, I am getting a little off topic here so the question I have for you all is do you panic like me in crowds? Or do you like crowds? I like people just hate them all at once. LOL.

Wow, you have got it bad. I am getting to hate going out at all after some bad experiences. It feels worse when I am by myself - my family help me to cope. However, I dont actually have panic attacks like that. I have had a couple at work when I encounter different people and feel backed into a corner. The last one actually was quite impressive and I got lots of sympathy (and the nasty bloke got moved never to be seen again!) I have given up on crowds. I do my Christmas shopping on the internet or send my teenagers to get things now. I have found loads of great people on MyLot to help with my confidence so although I would like to spend more time on here I feel that I will actually get better at being out.

That's awesome, I have thought of the internet for the shopping as well. I did all my shopping from sears one year but that was when I was working in the sears store and it was alot easier. I didn't really have the time to shop either. LOL. Even when I was working in the store I only had to deal with the people who were in my little corner so it wasn't as big of a deal and if I needed an escape I went into the cooler or freezer for a bit. LOL Thanks for the comment.

I love crowds- My favorite day to shop is Black Friday- I love finding good deals and I love fighting crowds- I've been doing it for years- I have managed to wave my way in and out of people- I can drive with the best of the city drivers- I'm not sure why I like crowds but I do.

I hate crowds too. When theres a crowd I get really moody and agrivated at everyone and everything, and the thing that will make it even worse is it being terribly hot and crowded.-thats the worse

Yes I can see how the heat can make everyone cranky! I have a hard time even when the parking lot is full. I usually even try to make my hubby go in by himself but he never lets me. Fortunately the store is big enough that even when there is alot of cars in the lot the store doesn't seem all that full. LOL. Thanks for the comment.

Crowded places can be discomforting for some people, especially during major sales and holiday periods. I like to shop, but don't like too crowded places where I cannot browse the products in comfort. I've seen parents in crowded shopping centres pushing their prams around trying to get ahead of the crowd. I often wonder why they have to subject their little kids and babies to such environments. But if you are a soccer fanatic, then you will love crowds - the more the merrier. If you go to the soccer stadium to watch a major game, and the stadium is packed, the atmosphere will be electric with all the cheering, singing and screaming in the crowds. The fun element is not there if the stadium is half empty.
You seem very uncomfortable in crowded places in such a way you have some kind of panic attacks. Do you suffer from Agoraphobia? See here for what this anxiety condition and phobia is: http://pages.infinit.net/drnayman/agorapho.htm
If you do, you may need to seek some professional help for your situation. I certainly hope you can do something to suppress your anxiety about crowded places, and be able to continue going out to eat, shop, watch a show or enjoy public events like everyone else without the fear of crowds.

Wow that article was very interesting! I am definitely not a soccer mom LOL I am not sure if I fit into that category or not but it is definitely something I might ask my doctor about. I know I went back to that same restaurant just about a week ago and it was very crowded again and I told my hubby to forget it we were going somewhere else! LOL. The next place was very crowded to. The next choice was mcdonalds and I wasn't eating that garbage so we stayed at the second place. LOL
