Cockroach

More than ten days ago, when I came back home, I saw in the dustpan of my neighbour's lots of cockroaches lying there dead. I was curious about how she got them killed. She told me that she used some special chemical tablets for wiping out the cockroaches by smoking them out faint. It is a good idea to smoke them out faint and kill the bugs. Yesterday evening I went to the supermarket and bought four chemical tablets for the cockroaches and used one tablet in the kitchen this morning before I went to work. To my surprise, I saw 23 cockroaches lying faint, but still moving their legs struggling to move around. They have to be stepped to death, otherwise, they will be just like mummies that return to the earth making the tablets ineffective to them next time. I hate these cockroaches in my apartment. Do mylotters use some similar chemical tablets to get rid of them?

My dad's place got infested with them and he had to have an exterminator come in twice to get rid of them. They are so gross looking.

We use the traditional method: stepping on them. I haven't seen any of these chemical tablets in our supermarket... I wonder where I can get them..

Just go to the rack where daily things are placed like incense coils sandal-Wood, mosquito coils, etc in a supermarket. And you will find it. This kind of stuff is cheap and very effective.

I am happy to have found the name of this chemical product. It is Mighty Chalk of Killing Cockroach with 0.5% Deltamethrin. It is really mighty. Have you found this kind of stuff in a supermarket to kill the cockroaches?

There is Baygon spray which we use. Cockroaches breed in sewage pipelines. Therefore, one should close the WCs, wash basin naini traps, all openings leading to water and sewage lines everyday night before one gets into bed. Cockroaches also breed in dark places, in the cabins below the countertop of kitchen. Also one should take care not to drop the food particles om the floor.

It is good that with chemicals you are able to send cockroaches out (faint). The suggestion I gave is to prevent them entering your house. Look out for areas where they enter and try to prevent it, so you are not to spray chemicals.

Yes, I know that, ssh. It is good that we can find where to block them from coming out to play around in our apartment. It is still better to have them wiped out since they are bad insects.

It is very informative about where cockroaches are found and breed their offspring. We have quite a few kinds chemical stuff to send cockroaches to the west. They are almost more than ninety percent effective. Thanks for helping dig out this sunk topic. lol.

Dear friend.. Personally i am against killing anything.. be it a cockroach or any other insect or an animal whatever it may be.. and so, use of artificial chemical tablets i never thought of. If at all i am compelled to a situation as you have experienced, i would try to find what is the root cause of huge number of cockroaches coming to the flat, probably accumulated dusts in the shelves, or bad odour from the drianage or a pungent smell from the toilets, or something like that would have caused the cockroaches to come. And therefore i will try to find out the reasons and will remove this, once if this is done, the problem get solved.

Hi friend. I have no idea what to say about your being against killing a cockroach. Anyway I thank you very much for your idea not to hurt any creatures and respect your idea about this. It can be a good and friendly idea to those cockroaches to find out the reason and remove this to get this problem settled. I appreciate your response very much, dear friend.

I hate cockroaches. There was a time I smashed one of it and it's still alive. I chop its head off but it's still moving. I think they are some kind of zombie thing. Days after, I bought some rat glues, not to fight the rats, but cockroach. They usually hid at the corner and the beside the wall. So, I stick the glue to some thick papers and placed it at the corner. To my surprise, it worked! I just throw the paper away with the cockroach. I think the cockroach will be lucky if it can survive after stucked with the glue. Hahaha... :) Btw... I feel glad to be back after my long holiday.. :) It's been very long since I replied your discussion, william. :) Thanks!

You have a very clever way to drive away the cockroaches. I would like to try the way you introduced here. Thank you very much for your response and I am happy to see you active again on Mylot. Happy posting, my dear friend.

My neighbour used some chemical tablets...which are apparently safe even if a pet or a child swallows it. The person who put it actually swallowed one and showed her. In a few months, there were no cockroaches in her house. Even the eggs were ineffective. I think she continued with the treatment for a year (just to be on the safe side) and then stopped.

Hello Sviswan. It is good that the chemical tablets are effective in removing the cockroaches, but I am getting worried about the health of the person who actually swallowed one to show that it is safe for pets and children. Will side effects happen to him later on? Well, I hope that he is ok for this. Bless him.

It has always been controversial to decide whether to kill the innocent creatures as they are going just for food. We could only blame them that they are so stupid that they couldn’t be able to distinguish between right or wrong lol... I normally don’t kill them with poisonous baits or chemicals. Other than for religious respect one practical reason is that I worry that the creatures might carry the poison along with their bodies especially their legs and contaminate our food consequently. I try to keep no food for them, hopping that they would migrate to other environment. Oh, jisir, why killing cockroaches with such effective weapon? One day they might alert you of earthquakes (you had experienced twice) and tsunami lol... (Do kindly take the above as a joke. Jokes always make life joyful.)

I'm blessed, we don't get Cockroaches very often here where I live. If we do, they aren't usually very big. We just use Borax Crystals or leave our home with the heat off for 2 or 3 days in the winter. I wouldn't want to spray anything or burn anything to kill them. I would worry that it could make my family or I sick. I'm glad you got rid of them, I hope they don't come back.

Thanks for your good wish that the cockroaches won't come back again. It is nice that you don't get cockroaches very often in the place where you live. If you use the stuff to kill the cockroaches, you will have to stay away from it for at least two hours based on what is guided in the directions. This way you won't get sick from using it. Thanks again, whatshername.

I don't have big cockroaches at home. Here occasionally we have very small cockroaches at home. However, I think they are worse than the big ones. People say these cockroaches are from overseas. It's hard to remove them. The medical chalk can't get rid of them. I bought a special medicine which looks like a needle to kill them. Just squeeze a little bit medicine from this needle and put it to the drawer corner. Then your home will be silent for some time. But it seems you will never get rid of this kind of small cockroaches completely. After a season, they will be back. I love China

Good evening, youless. Yeah, I see that the cockroaches will be back after some time, which is true indeed. So we need to use a different chemical stuff to please them so that they won't get used to it and make it ineffective. Yeah? Thank you for the response.

It is the same with many Chinese families to use spray to make them pass away in a faster way and happier way. I don't cockroaches, either. They fly in the house sometimes in the evening, so disgusting. Thanks for your response, kcrysea.

Hi williamjisir! We don't have chemical tablets here and I do heard that when insects or cockroaches are sprayed regularly with the same chemical, they tend to develop some immunity over the sprays, I really don't know for sure but I am using insecticides/sprays with different brands alternately to confuse them(LOL!) and so to avoid cockroaches from mulitplying. Haha...Have a nice day and take care.

It is right that they gain some immunity over the sprays. But you don't need to spray every so often. One time is enough to get them gone. You are very cool to use different brand sprays to get the cockroaches confused. A good idea. Thanks, faith, for your good idea.

I use mothballs, I dont know that some tablets can do it. If I see cockroaches around I will either hunt them down or just spread mothballs around the house they won't show up anymore. I never see cockroaches here though, but once I saw a tiny mouse trying to get in when the river bank reached high time and destroyed its home. That's it. I guess my cat needs more toys.

Unlike many people, I'm not afraid of cockroaches. In fact, my youngest sibling even gave me a name being the "roach killer" because I kill them everytime I have the opportunity. The only time I get afraid of them is when do they fly and land or crawl over my skin. Honestly, there are plenty of roaches inside the house. They easily multiply even if you kill them regularly. I guess this is due to the fact that whenever they lay their eggs, these contain more than ten offsprings. I learned this from watching shows in the National Geographic channel. But now that you've mentioned it, I discovered from you that they do come to life again if they are not stepped down. I'm a bit confused because some say that stepping them down isn't adviseable because this will only make the germs from the cockroaches spread, thus spreading disease all over. But admittedly, I do step on them or kill them with slippers sometimes. When I do a general cleaning when I'm in the mood or have much energy and time, I make it a point to check up on areas in the house which are rather dark and crowded, because I know they are hiding there and laying their eggs there, too. And I do flush their eggs in the toilet bowl, hatched or unhatched. I believe that somehow, I could kill these unborn roaches by drowning them. We rarely buy chemical sprays but it's partly because I don't want to use them regularly as there are studies that these chemicals do some damage to our environment. We refrain from using these specially if our daughter is with us in the house. Also, they are costly or expensive.

Hello mykmari. Good to know that you are a roach killer. Yeah, I am also scared when a cockroach flies because I don't like it to fall on me because of its scary legs. It is good information about the multiply of cockroaches with the detailed information source from the channel National Geographic. I thank you so much for the wonderful response about cockroaches that I have learned so much. Have a good day, my dear friend.

I suggest you try my secret weapon against cockroaches. Instead of using harmful sprays or smokes, I use the magic chalk. This chalk does not only kills cockroaches, but also other insects like ants, etc. Cockroaches often take some time to die. If you find them still alive, try to leave them alone. If you can't help your self from killing them, try pouring on them boiling hot waters. Hehehe very brutal for the cockroach.

Hello beauty_ph. Long time no see. How have you been? I also bought a piece of chalk for the cockroaches, but I have not been able to use it and it is still there in the corner. I think that I need to try it as it is so mighty like what you have experienced. I appreciate your secret and will try. Thanks for sharing your secret, dear beauty_ph.
