Just a quick rant. Why do people on here seem to think they are playing trivial pursuit. I suppose it is a way to generate "disscussions" But I cant help seeing these and thinking who the heck do you think you are. For all i know your some 50 year old sleeping in your parents basement. If i wanted to know the answer to any of these questions id look it up. not ask some random person on here. Anyhow im sure im now officially being written off as a jerk. lol. Anyhow how do other people feel about these Quiz masters.

I guess it's a quick and easy way for someone to take a content someone else created (a quiz they probably found in a book or on a website) and post it here to make money while showing they are more knowlegeable than others and proving superiority. Others I'm sure just do it for fun. But again I'm sure they superiority angle comes into play somewhere, because they are the keeper of knowlege, the divine holder of the flame, the one searched the web first for the answer. Admittedly I have answered a couple of these posts, just for fun to see if I could figure out the puzzle correctly. Then I promptly realized that I could find the answer with a simple web search. Like all the others who post answers... Minnie Mouse is HOT! filmbuff

Yeah I mean who would dare question the great keeper of all useless facts. they saw on the back of a trivial pursuit card. Or looked up online yesterday. Go wiki

The title caught my sight and I really wanted to see and meet a man who is a quiz master. I must say you have disappointed me thoroughly, vorbro:-) I havn't ever started such a discussion but I do have responded to a lot of them just because I like to. Being an engineer, loving mathematics and analytical reasoning, and doing well with mathematical and analytical challenges presented, I have always been amused by those questions asked. I like to put myself to challenge. After coming to France, I didn't find people who could challenge. One day on mylot, I found somebody asking such type of question and I got my self interested in replying and I continued to reply and established myself as one of the best responders. But I do not think that I or poster of that topic are anywhere close to a master or genius. It's just fun. This was also one of the reasons I initially stayed on Mylot. After that I made a lot of wonderful friends, so for me it has been a sort of blessing. Had they not been there, I wouldn't have probably stayed in first place and I sure couldn't have made friends that I made by just staying. After explaining my reasons for loving them, I must say that while you find much more positive things here on mylot, you will still find some negatives. You will find people bringing some topics which are stupid or silly to others, pouring out hate, abuse, name calling and bashing. I think these types of posts does provide some breathing air for me when I see such negativity. If you see in some of these questions they are more like discussions, rather than simple questions, having no exact answer and requiring a lot of thinking and putting mind to work. I am sure that some topic which is serious to one can be completely ridiculous, silly and stupid to other, so in this case I say that every one is to his/her view. Everyone has the right to say anything but it just shouldn't be said with negativity. Having said all that, I do agree with you that most of the people use it just to generate discussions like they do by posting jokes, just to make their post count more. I would also agree that people should be serious/sincere, in intent, even in such a non serious so called "discussions" which are not actually discussions but merely questions. If I havn't had some disagreement, I wouldn't have written so long but still I am sorry for the length of this reply. But rest assured that for majority part, I do agree with you. I wonder how much would I write if I disagreed to a major part or yet If I totally disagreed!!:-) I enjoyed replying, vorbro:-) Ahh! I just almost finished my reply and as I have a habit to re read original post, I saw you pic closely and I thought that I have seen you some where so decided to check your profile and there I found a wonderful surprise:-) Nice to meet you vorbro and welcome to mylot:-)

No, You didn't actually let me down as it is quite understandable how they can be irritating for some people. In fact they have been irritating to myself when the poster would require a pet answer rather than any qualified answer. I have stopped replying to such questions for some weeks and consequently Some of the quiz posters have stopped posting them, clearly showing that it was just a fun between us. and the lady who posted most earlier, clearly wrote that one shouldn't look for answer otherwise there will be no fun. Then again, there are many posts which are quite interesting (other than quizzes) for the person who posted that discussion but for many others including the responders, they are silly, tasteless, irritating and ridiculous. It's only how we see things and in this light this difference is quite understandable. For majority part, however, I do agree with you:-) I hope you would enjoy your time here on mylot and keep bringing some interesting and thought provoking as well as fun discussions. Happy posting:-)

I know! I've seen several of those posts, and they drive me crazy! I can understand asking for people's opinions, or for advice, or even information that you NEED. However, asking trivia questions on mylot is annoying. I guess my thought here would be that there should be a separate interest for "trivia" so that the people who actually want to participate in these threads can find them, without them junking up all the other interest categories.

I think they are entertaining. I think many of them would be interesting if they were phrased properly. A poorly phrased anything sinks the ship mate, especially quizzes, jokes, etc.
