Forgetting things - how serious is this matter?

My dears, I have such a good memory that I was nick named by some of my ex bosses as their walking 'post it', as they would mention things to me and I would reproduce the information when and as needed; especially phone numbers, address, things to do... However, I do make many, many, many lists and personally I think that in today's world we are so over informed with various things from the internet, television, books and so on, on top of which we also have the daily routine stress - therefore, I find it normal that we forget sometings sometimes. My sister, almost had a panic attack because she forgot something which has important to her so, my question is, how much importance should we give to this problem - should we simply take some extra vitamins that help us with our memory or should we stock up on post it's?

my dear magdalena, I am a neurologist and I work everyday with patients with dementia..so I am used at evaluating memory deficits...my first question ..what did she forget? was it the first time? has she got any other health problem? how old is she? and so on..As you can see from my questions, the problem is that we all can forget something from time to time...we talk about a memory deficit only in particular cases and when there are real problems..so my advice is ..consider the situation quietly..if you and your sister have any doubt, better see a neurologist who is familiar with cognitive impairment. if you need any extra help or want to speak about private problems, just email me and I will be happy to help you and your sister

Hello my dear friend - thank you for your offer. As I wrote my sister was very concerned about her memory issues and did go to a doctor. He subsequently said she is stressed and overloading her brain and body. My sister does work too much, sometimes she sleeps only 3-4 hours a day. She is feeling better now but does keep a close watch on her memory issues. Thank you again. Best wishes, Magdalena

It can be stress related and just temporary. Many people have this problem once a while. Tell your sister to relax and take long vacations if she can....

I also think that we are over-stimulated with so much information....so to me it is completely natural that we tend to forget things sometimes.... I am one of those people who write things down...I have to...my memory seems to work when and if it wants to...while some things seem permanently burnt into my memory....others elude it too often... I should buy stock in the "post it's" because I buy them quite frequently......LMAO
