I really love to travel. I enjoy walking but it is only possible to cover a short distance. I am likely to use walking as a way of getting around once I reach my destination. I loved the walking tracks in beautiful New Zealand, like the one through stunning Abel Tasman National Park. It passed some glorious looking sandy coves and some fantastic views.
If I want to go on a long haul holiday I go by plane. This is because it is quick and usually easily affordable. I don't like flying very much but sitting in a plane for 10 hours or so has got me to some really wonderful places. I loved going to Cancun in Mexico as it was a cheap way for me to reach Belize. I enjoyed going to the Seychelles via Nairobi as it was a cheap way to reach paradise.
When I have reached a destination my favourite form of transport is train. I find watching the scenery pass by the window very relaxing. It is also superb to sleep in a compartment on a train and wake up, feeling fresh, in a new destination. I tend to use buses if no trains are available. I like boats for short journeys most of all. Local transport like hiring a bike can be fun. I especially liked cycling in the very flat country of Holland.

BY train I think is more safe then plane or car.
If the place is near house on foot as you say.
