OK i'm going to have a rant now, forgive me but i'm annoyed.
Is it just me or does it seem like we keep on getting screwed over? It was announced today that in Scotland they will return to free university education, Ok on the face of it that seems a bit of a mean thing to be angry about but i have good reason, here in England i have just finished university with a debt of £18,000 due to the level of tuition fees (and people behind me will have even more). For us the price will keep rising but the for the scots its all good.
What is so wrong is that the money (some £2billion) to fund this free uni initiative will not come from Scottish tax payers but from british (80% of which will be English), so as well as having to pay back a small fortune for my education my taxes will also pay for someone else to get it completely free. Does this not strike you as slightly wrong? if they want a free education system then they should increase taxes in Scotland alone to cover the cost not put the rest of us out of pocket.
Does anyone else get the feeling that this whole union thing isn't working too well? I say we let the Scottish have their independence and then they can do what they want and pay for it themselves. It just doesn't seem to be working equally, the Scottish seem to be getting a much better deal than the English.
