should we play with fire?

Most of us are told as children not to play with fire (well those of us with sensible parents anyway, my friend Mike and his experimental parents may suggest different but thats another story) but what is so terrible about fire? nothing, it brings us warmth, cooks food, kills unwanted things, creates light, but that doesn't mean we should play with it because it burns. However what is life without a bit of risk thrown in? i was the other day doing a bit of fire poi, this is where you get two sort of chains and at the bottom are two flammable sort of flammable bits at the bottom, you then spin them around and it looks cool in the dark, it was great fun, except when you hit yourself it hurts. I was also given the chance to do some firebreathing but being a wimp i chickened out, so my question to you all is should i bite the bullet and breathe fire next week, or is it too dangerous? Also as this is a discussion site share some of the other fun experiences you can have playing with fire (in a responsible adult way of course)

I have a friend that use to swallow fire. He said it is not as dangerous as it looks. But I would not try it!LOL I love to play with fire. My most favorite spot would involve a fire pit and plenty of wood. Any time we grill, camp or just build a fire in the back yard I am the undisputed fire person! Does that make me a pyro?

Most of us Girl Scouts are pyro's. We have bonfires just so we can dance around them. Then we also have an activity we call fire therapy. Not dangerous but very relaxing.

Everyone likes fire, theres nothing i enjoy more than going down to the beach, starting a fire and then cooking food on it, in the original way. Then once you've finished you can burn things!!!!!!!! :)

I don't know about the breathing fire thing, I mean I've seen it done, but I wouldn't try it myself. Hopefully you are only doing this with someone that's well versed in acts such as these. Does the breathing fire just entail you pretty mush spitting lighter fluid? I think that's what I've seen before. But I've always been a kind of pyro, I love to light things and watch it burn! It's so dry here in FL though that I have to watch that these days... don't want to light my city on fire.

yeah all you do is pour some parafin into your mouth and spit it out through a flame, looks cool but i'm sure i'd end up swallowing it by accident or not spitting it all out and setting fire to the inside of my mouth

Smug, it sounds like you were trying to be a human barbeque. Do not play with fire. Bad!!! I am telling your mother. Stay away from the light. If you just can't stop yourself, bring the first aid kit. LOL

I had burn marks but not from fire. When I was a baby I kicked a bottle of hot water and the water poured onto my skin. My parents rushed me to the doctor but it was too late. My dad was so angry he fired the baby sitter who had served his family for many many years. My mom said I didn't want to drink milk, but the babysitter forced me to and so I struggled and ended up kicking the bottle. It's not a funny experience for everyone, but since then my family kind of know that if I don't want to do something, there is no way they can make me do it since I couldn't care less of the consequences of not doing it.

A quick story, Many years ago I got a half a large coffee can full of gasoline dumped over my head an ignited. Nothing and I mean nothing is worth the pain even if you live through it.
