All right--laugh if you wish...I got inspired with this discussion from one that gabs started about it being her dog's Gissi's birthday.....But believe it or not, I do celebrate my pets' birthdays..hey why not? They're part of my family too..they're my kids...Pyewacket, my black cat, is going to be celebrating his sixth birthday on June 17th, and Kissy's my tabby has her birthday on October 20--she'll be eight
So do you celebrate your pets' birthdays in any way...like get extra treats...toys...??

I celebrate both my cats' Birthday and his "got him" day. I don't know the day he was born, but I know the week so I just picked a day. Then I also celebrate the day that I got him. I usually give him some treats and tuna fish and buy him something special. Your pet is just like a kid in ways and you celebrate your kids birthday so you should totally celebrate your pets birthday too!

I agree that our pets are our kids...and better in some ways...at least our pets don't ask us for their own computer, a playstation, a $30 book (like Harry Potter)--LOL

We don't celebrate my dog's birthday, but that's probably because he's the most spoiled in our household. He probably thinks everyday is his birthday. My mom can't hardly leave walmart without bringing him a new toy and he gets treats just for sitting and looking cute!

They were born on a cold snowy night, in my garage, where the stray, (their mother) went to give birth. It was January 2nd. I found the 4 kittens and their mother and they all became part of my family! It was so close to New Years, that I made that their birthdays, and every New Years I would celebrate their birthdays by special treats, new toys, catnip and lots of fun boxes they could play in. This went on for many, many years but this year was the last. I lost the last of the litter last month. My dear sweet Re-Pete finally went home to kitty heaven to be with his mother and brothers. The mother, (Candy), multi-colored, lived for 10 years, the 4 male kittens, Pete, Phillip, Bob and Re-Pete all made it to 21 years and over. Bob 21yrs. Phillip 22yrs. Pete 22yrs. and my little Re-Pete was 24yrs. when he passed. Pete and Re-Pete were all orange short haired and Phillip and Bob were orange and white short haired. I will always miss them but because of them, I went into the cat rescueing business, you know, finding them, saving them, getting them healthy and finding them good homes. There were some nobody wanted, (special needs) cats, so I kept them and now I have 30 cats, so the days of celebrating their birthdays are over, too many to celebrate so we make every day special for them! Just today I went out and got a bunch of new boxes for all of them to play in as well as gave them their favorite, (CATNIP)!

I always buy them a new toy for their birthday, but the best occasion of celebrating a pet's birthday was when I was 8 and my sister was 10, and we were celebrating the birthday of our mutt Charlie, the first dog we ever had. My mom made a cake and on top dyed the bits of coconut green to look like grass. It was cute. He got one lick we put on a platefor him, but that was it. Perhaps it was more our present. : )

I actually know so few of my cats birthdays, and half the time I don't remember when I got them. But Solo will be 3 on June 22nd. I told the roomie we should do something for my "miracle" baby. We're still talking about what. For Oliver's first birthday, that had to be right around Oct 1st, we gave him his own can of cat food, but keeping that greedy gut out of a cat for Solo will be more difficult. We'll figure out something before his birthday.

For my earlier cats that I got, their birthday would be the day we got them...so that would be their birthday..later on quite a number of the cats were born here, so knew exactly when their birthday was...still trying to figure out what to get his royal highness..Pyewacket..--good thing our pets can't make lists out for what they want...LOL

I use to celebrate the day I got my Leo 'cause we didn't know he's birthday. Then when we got Moses we just celebrated his when we did Leo's. But now they don't need any news toys or anything so I just try to make sure I give them catnip on that day. They don't get that too often so it's still a special little treat.
I do still buy them something for Christmas though :) All our pets have their own stockings.

I don't know when Lucy's birthday is. I figured she was born about November 2001 as she was still pretty little when we got her but her first owner got her from the pound before Christmas. Banjo was born 16th Oct last year and Pickles was born Dec 3rd last year. Every day is special with my lil fur pals. I've never thought of doing birthday things for pets.

I'd love to do that for my pet. So far we just bought her something special like toys or snacks. If we have enough money we will take her to a pet spa. I think she will like it!

I do - my cat Indy (Independance) will be 1 you guessed it, on the 4th of July and we're already planning her party - have to go visit 'Grandma' (my mom) which is where we got her.
We also had a wedding for 2 poodles one time!

I had a cat named Indy too once and like yours was born on the fourth of July...here's his picture--he was one of the cats I had to give up to a rescuer when we (my mom and I) were being threatened with eviction --she had created a..uh, bit of a pet population problem--

I usually don't but Humphrey (My avatar cat & favorite pet)might just get a few treats this year. He'll be 9 years old in a little over a week and he's been recovering from an infected wound. He went out for a little bit into our yard about a week ago and apparently got into a fight with another cat. His poor little front paw swelled up like a football after a couple days and he's still on antibiotics. I'm so relieved that he's going to be okay that I think I probably will celebrate his birthday a little bit this year.

Since I have too many cats to mention each of their birthdays, I'll concentrate on my two dogs. Snuggles' birthday is August 24th, and she will be 11. And Buddy just had his 2nd birthday on May 15th. They always get special treats and chew toys on their special days, as do the cats. Heck....my critters get their own stockings at Christmas even! LOL

I still have all the Christmas stockings from my former cats...I had gotten a lot of small stockings and embroidered their name on each one...since there so many, I string them up and it stretches the length of a wall...a nice remembrance if my former kitties no longer around

I am not laughing because I do it. We have a cocker spaniel whose name is Sassy Sue. When she turned one on March 31, 2006 we had her a 1st birthday party. We bought her a small (one piece) cake from krogers and some doggie ice cream. She also wore a birthday hat. We sat on the back porch and sang her happy birthday and she ate her cake and ice cream. She is our daughter. I do not have kids so she sleeps with us and goes with us everywhere. We got her when she was 6 weeks old. We also bought her a toy and we stopped and picked up my husband's brothers dog (a basinhound) and she came over to play with my dog on her birthday.
She also gets presents for christmas that she opens all by herself etc.
Some people may laugh but I thought/think it is a cute idea.

I don't know my cats exact birthdates-other than that they were all born in May, and we adopted Georgia (our dog) on Mother's Day. So all of May is their birthdays and every day is a celebration. However-one cannot open a present, here or at my parents' house without the dogs getting to open one too! (No matter whose birthday it is). And my in-laws have birthday parties for their Yorkie, who wears her special party dress!
What have we done? LOL
