It was over cast but warm out so decided to go to the lake and swim. The water was still cold so I sat on the edge while my daughter's swam. Now I know that over cast days are the worst days for sunburns. Yep I know it but didn't think about it. Now I am burnt and can not lay down to sleep. One of my daughters got sunburned too. She I put 60 spf lotion on and it didn't work. So here I sit with my back, shoulders and legs radiating heat from my body and can't sleep. How could I be so dumb? You would think I would have known better. My brain didn't seem to be functioning. I have tried the spray, the cream and the vinager. Anyone else have any ideas for the dumb lady???

Tric, It dosen't matter how old we get or how much we know better we all still do some pretty dumb things. If you have tried it all then I would suggest just a wet cool towel. It will draw the heat out and make you more comfortable. I know how miserable those sun burns can be. but what you need to do is draw out the heat.

Did you use apple cider vinegar? That should do the trick. My parents used it on me and my two brothers when we were so sun burned that they almost took us to the hospital but someone reminded my dad about apple cider vinegar and it works like a charm! We were still sunburned the next day but we could move around instead of being stiff as a board. It has to be apple cider vinegar not the other kinds for they won't work. Also, did you know, you get a double dose of the sun when near shiny things such as water or glass? Yup you sure do so it's best to watch out for that and stay clear of it or you'll get burned twice as fast. That is why some people spray themselves with water when sun bathing. Also, next time get some water proof sunscreen. Others will wash off when in the water.
