All right did anyone here do what we did when we went on a trip? We did not want to leave our little dog home or in a kennel so we took him with us. Then when no one was looking we sneaked her into the motel. Usually the motel manager knew anyway and just looked the other way. Our dog was outdoor trained, so we would have to sneak her out when she wanted to do her business so there was no accident on the carpets. Did any of you sneaked your dog into the motel because you did not want to leave it in a kennel?

Sometimes we'd have to at dog shows. Management would decide on a whim not to allow dogs in the rooms or to limit the amount we were allowed to bring in, and if we didn't have enough crates to leave them in the vehicle, one or two was snuck in.
The only time management complained was when we actually didn't have a dog in the room at all, she was outside in the van all night but he swore up and down that he saw us bring her inside the room late at night. Never staying there again.

I hate when people have to leave their dogs in a kennel. It is all right if they have friends or relatives, but a kennel, our dog had a personality and an impartial kennel could not understand her. The management did not mind as long as we put the dog outside to do her business.

Growing up my family traveled all over the United States on mini vacations. My mother had a Yorkie (Myownie) that was part of the family. Myownie went everywhere with us. We snuck her into Motels, across "Bug Inspection" stations at State borders, across the Canadian Border, we snuck her everywhere we went! She was well trained too and never had an accident or destroyed anything.

Our dog was well behaved. Thanks for telling me of your experience.

No, I've never done that...but I do salute you! lol. I think it is unfair most motels don't allow any pets, many people love to travel with their pets! And kennels are no fun for dogs or cats! They miss their family while their locked away in a cage! Not cool!
You keep sneaking that dog in everywhere you go! Fight the power! =P

Yes, I am guilty as well. To me the dogs are part of the family. Where I go my chihuahuas go. Since they are so small it is even fairly easy.. Only have to watch out that they don't bark at the wrong time. As of now, never been caught and never done any "damage" either. I think most places don't allow pets because of some irresponsiple pet owners that let them "go" in the room or the dogs chew things up. Once again we all have to suffer because of some other peoples mistakes.

I once worked at a vacation rental place and they did not allow dogs for the simple reason (so they say) incase the next renter was allergic to animals. We had a few home owners who made sure we allowed pets into thier rentals because they were pet lovers themselves, however, it had to be disclosed that it was pet friendly. Tahoe has one motel that I know of that is for humans and pet specifically, they have a completely gated property and PETS ARE ENCOURAGED, My friend worked there and they had a big write up about it in the local paper. With so many pet owners in the USA and everywhere else, you would think there would be more pet friendly places or even rooms set aside for families with pets (like smoking and non-smoking) they could just tile the floor (have throw rugs) and have leather furniture (durable) instead of clothe.
