My sister raises her own chickens and has one Rooster. I do not know what kind he is but he is pretty. My sister gets so many eggs a day she sells them. I am talking about my twin sister who lives in Idaho and has a mini farm. She loves all her animals. She also has a garden which is about an acre in size.
How many more of you have your own farm with animals?

Do you share your twins passion for animals?
I live in the desert, not suited for farming. I would love to have chickens and a rooster though. But, it would cost a mint to pen them in, or the wolves and coyotes would eat them.

I love animals but do not want to be tied down like she is. She is into the Mother Earth thing with growing her own food, and meat. She is wonderful and a hard worker, she has MS but she keeps going with all she had to do. She has sheep, her garden is almost an acre large and then the chickens.
Her hen house is an old overhead camper and then she lets them go during the day. They nautrally put themselves to be at night. She has fences around her whole place so she does not have to much trouble with coyotes or wolves.

Chickens grow fast it take them a matter of months to get full grown. When chickens are butchered for meat they are around 4 to 6 months old. If the chickens get to much older than that the meat gets to tough.

Looking at the rooster is much better than looking at that snake.lol. I don't live on a farm but I have often thought about what it would be like. But for now I will have to settle with my own little zoo with lots of cats and dogs.lol.

Waking up to a rooster crowing is the best thing in the world. Roosters do not only crow in the morning they crow all day long. They also crow all night long during a full moon.
