It depends on how many responses that particular discussions have. If it doesn't have too many responses, I would read and rate everything and then make a response. But if it has more than 20 responses, then I might not be able to read because it would take much of my time. I would say, if that particular discussion interests me very much, then I would probably read everything before making a response. I guess I won't say for sure but it really depends on how interesting the discussion is.

I simply go through other responses before posting mine. As i like to follow mylot guidelines which also states that one should go through ohters responses before posting your own. Moreover I like to contribute something new which has not yet been mentioned or give my perspective which i feel will enhance the discussion. I feel this is one is more involved in mylot and it's fun.

I respodn through my email notification so I respond before reading them. But I do read some of them after posting so I can rate them as well.

Actually no,except the topic is the one I really interested in. But for most of times, I just don't read their responses but response at once. But I do read all the responses who replied to my discussions.

i often read a few responses in the discussion first before adding my own because as much as possible, i don't want to be repetitive. also, i hope to provide additional input or insights or ideas into the discussion. if i feel that what i have to say is already in the response of another user, i just put a comment on that particular response to agree on its contents.
it is a good habit to read responses because sometimes, the discussion starter provided additional information in his/her comments to the responders. we get a better grasp of the discussion or the situation if we have a deeper understanding on where the discussion starter is coming from.
my responses are not affected by any of the earlier responses in the discussion. i believe that i have my own opinion regardless whether i agree with others or not. :)
