I tend to clean more for guests than for myself. I'm definitely NOT a clean freak! LOL!!! When I clean for guests it's not so much to impress them as to keep them from knowing what a slob I really am. I do keep the kitchen clean -- don't want to make anyone sick!! -- but there's a lot of clutter due to my selling used, vintage and antique items. I just don't have enough storage. I have a friend (a 6' 1" woman) who likes to stretch using the molding at the top of doors -- she knows who's always clean and who isn't!!!

hahahah i dunno if i would care that much if a person kept the house clean year-round as opposed to doing it when visitors are expected. but that me think, hahah. i just finished a round of cleaning and fixing up my room, even though i wont be having any visitors any time soon. i guess it really doesnt matter. in fact it even suggests that even though the person may not be that tidy, at least she/he was thoughtful enough to clean up for you :)

Actually, I am one of those artists. There is stimulation in seeing things next to each other that don't usually "go" together. The shapes and angles, colors and textures can solve design problems or inspire new ideas. Too much clutter is not productive though, so a balance must be kept.

you are right when you say it doesn't matter to the guests....But it matters when you are living in an untidy house..it affects your health, predisposing to disaeses and even aggravating existing diseases...and your mood and enthusiasm are also dampened in an untidy messed uo environment...there are some artists who say their creativity is stimulated by an messy environment..but such people are rare
