I have a little Japanes Chin named Pakiboy. He is only 7 pounds and is absolutly adorable. The problem is - he doesn't like to eat. He is very very picky! Pakiboy prefers to eat fruits and vegetables rather then meat or chicken.
I also have 2 other dogs Benny (a Pug) and Gizmo (also a Japanese Chin and Pakiboy's half brother). These guys eat normally - ususally chicken or beef, brocolli, carrots, dry dog food and treats. But not Pakiboy - Nope! He usually would rather not eat if he has to have meat. It doesn't matter if it is steak, chicken or pork - he will walk away. Sometimes we can get him to eat some by mixing in alittle mayonaise or dipping the meat in ketchup! He only wnats the veggies - carrots, brocolli, potatoes - even califlower! He also loves fruits - apples, peaches, pinapple, watermelon - almost any fruit! He also likes tofu and cottage cheese and pasta.
I have heard of vegetarioan dogs but I worry that he is not getting the right amount of protein. Any suggestions?

My dogs loved fruits and vegetables, too. They ate cabbages, brocolli, watermelon, apple. Whatever I ate something, they would also like to try it. But of course, they didn't like hot chili (LOL) Otherwise, I would be shocked!

You are absolutely right about the dog not getting enough protein. Dogs may be omnivores, but they have the short digestive tract of a carnivore and cannot digest grains or vegetable matter efficiently.
I'd take him to the vet to rule out any problems, and maybe just only offer him meat. Eventually he'll be hungry enough to eat.
