Have you even had the feeling your mate is cheating but need proof to act on it?

Many of us have mates that suddenly start doing things they've never done before. But it is especially obvious when you know that you have reached a rough patch in your relationship. You get a gut feeling but can't seem to put your finger on enough evidence to substantiate your accusation. Then we turn into super sleuths and become determined to find out what we already know. I don't know why we do that is it because we want to be sure because we care so much for that person and don't want to lose the time invested or is it because we believe if confronted we can fix the situation. I was told once a cheater always a cheater but I could be wrong what do you think?
