Big brother! Real life social experiment or just an act?

I hate to admit it, but I'm a Big Brother addict! The plot twists and back stabbing alone, make it worth watching. But the other day someone mentioned that it's not real. Is this true? How can they call it reality TV, if it's all scripted? Do you think that Big Brother is scripted and staged? Or, could it really be a show about people trying to get along in a giant sized human fish bowl?

Even if it's not scripted, it still may not be completely real. Because of editing, we only see what they want us to see. So, if the producers or whoever want to make a particular person look like a jerk, then they're only going to show the excerts of them acting like a jerk. Personally, I was only into the show for a couple of seasons, then it got old. The only way to make something like this completely real is to put people together who don't know that they're being taped. Then you might see a little more.

I doubt very much that it is staged. Why would they tell people to get down and dirty in the middle of the night??? When there is casting calls for the show I'm sure someone from the show itself or someone that auditioned for it would have said something about it. TV Networks would more than liekly pay big money to hear this kind of thing so I don't think it would come out JUST NOW after 8 seasons.
