Did you hear about this? A lady died in the hospital waiting room because no one would help her? She lay bleeding for 45 minutes before she died. People tried calling 911 to get her help, but 911 would not call an ambulance to take her to another hospital because she was already at a hospital. I think this is inexcusable? What is the world coming to when you can't get help at a hospital. What do ya'll think about this? Should there be any criminal charges? Who is responsible the hospital or the 911 operator?

Hi,First let me say...it is absolutely outrageous that this happened. I'd like to address this from an EMS standpoint.
As a former 911 operator (the "official" title is Emergency Medical Dispatcher, or EMD) I believe it would have been against the law to send a crew because she was already getting care at that hospital. What kind of care? ... we weren't there and may only be getting one side of this story. Even if the EMD had sent an EMT/Paramedic crew that crew would be unable to transport that patient to another hospital (by law).
I had a similar situation once, a patient called 911 from a hospital. I had informed him that I couldn't send a crew to care for him or transport him. I did get his location in the hospital, and called the hospital to attend to his needs. Was I obligated to do so?...no. Could the EMD in this situation have done something similar?...yes, the EMD was however, NOT obligated to do so.
So that leaves us as "monday morning quarterbacks". Please, this is IN NO WAY A CRITICISM OF THE EMS PERSONNEL INVOLVED. I've been there and know first hand what you go through (good, bad, and mostly very ugly). Looking back at this, what could have been done? The EMD could have called the hospital to alert them that they were receiving calls about this patient. The EMD could have dispatched the crew anyway, then the crew could have possibly helped at the hospital (but, would have been unable to transport her to another hospital).

I think charges should be brought against the hospital. They are supposed to triage each patient according to what is wrong with them. Someone bleeding should have been taken care of quickly!

Look the women have lost her life due to this kind of ridiculous irresponsibility but the case must be examined and those people must be prosecuted for future prevention before any other case like this take place......
I am sure there must be some guidelines have been decided by the authorities of hospital and 911 call centre so the staff did followed it and ignored the request have been made to provide her immediate transportation ........
