When brousing the internet for some good runescape clans. I came across something that I was not expecting. Most parents would sterotype vidio game players as "un educated anti social kids". But here is some proff that shows you are wrong http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4774534.stm Runescape is one of the most popular games in the world. Many parents know about it, and I have seen hundreds of petitions to shut this particuallar game down. One of my best friends was banned by his parents from playing runescape because someone called someone gay. Too many people think this game is bad. But has these people even tried playing runescape? I think not. Take a close observation the next time you log in to play. What are you mainly doing? When you get off tutorial island what do you do? You do small things to get coins, allowing you to work your way up to get coins easier and easier, then get yourself armor and stuff. Then you go do some quests. When you want to move on to the next quest you notice that your skills are to low. So you train. Then your ready. But since you train, your ready for better armor. Now lets run by life. You work through school, and then get a job. When you have saved up enough,(while food and other eseincials are on sidelines) you do something fun. When thats over, you go back to work, and you can do another fun thing, only better. Sounds fermilier? Your life in runescape is preparing you for how real life works, (while makeing friends along the way) put into a virtual perspective that kids ages 13-18 can enjoy (yes believe it or not, runescape is rated teen). Also quests provide much problem solving, and the new construction skill makes you make a choice of what goes where. Also, Jagex incourages you to report trouble makers, which you should always do in real life And runescape players are not anti-social. In fact, If you read the study, People who played runescape were more social than their peers!

I think another lesson learned in this game is how to restart from nothing. If you get a bad grade in school that reeeeeeeeeely brings down your average, most children would give up and think there is nothing else left to do to get them back on their feet. but many runescape players (expecially people who get owned alot) know how to deal with this and just strive harder to make the grade up.

Now you all are getting off the subject. The whole point that this is trying to make is that runescape does not poisen the mnds of children. It does just the oppisite!

Yup, restarting from nothing is diffenatly something ive learned from runescape. The first time you die, you have two little things on your shoulder. One is a cool zezima lookingm dude with full barrows. The other is a noob with wizard hat, blue robe and a steel skimiter. The cool one says "just keep going, never give up! You can do this!" the noob says "Its all over, your ruined. You can only get it back if you ask for money" Its your decision. You got to go through everything, better or worse. never give up in games or in life. Just tell those annoyingm people who say get a life to shut up and figure out 45 to the 5th power.

And then there is the third little man. The choob dude. He is a little preety boy that sits on top of your head encourageing you to laugh at noobs. It is even harder to resist him. That is another lesson that is carried on to life. You shouldnt laugh at people who have less than you. And you shouldnt log on to another account and luagh at people you kill.

I absolutely agree with you, I play runescape and WoW and since I have high leveled characters, I get lots of people telling me I suck and I need to get a life. Just ignore them all, they have their interests and I you have yours. Although playing runescape is probably more educational (economics and time management?) and social than whatever the other person is spending HIS time with.

Yes that happends because in runescape your constintly bambarded with merchanters and people thst constintally call you a noob. Then you get forced to learn how to deal with those people, and those skills carry over to real life.

Yes that is something I have leard. Im am ALLLLLWWWAAYYYSSS being called a noob. I found the trick is to find something that they are noobish at, like math. Or mess with their mind. Follow them around and then talk about something they did later.

The only drawback with social behaviour in an mmorpg is that you can get away with a lot more swearing and insulating without a consequence.

No that is why runescape blocks out even if you make a fraction of a curse word

Ya, those are the people who either got banned, or got stuck somewhere in the game. Usually runescape is laughed at by all other mmorpgs. They think just because people can play it for free meens its not a hardcore game.

I dont like it when parents think that their judgement changes how something really is. That is why when I was a child, I didnt give the details of a game, because this just makes them too courious.

Runescape is just a game dont get so addicted to it since everyone has to go out once in a while. Even thought i play runescape and its fun i still have to go out and get some air and do all the other stuff. Only play runescape at night where its better because its free time basicly. People still need sleep too so play it before you sleep.

runescape does prepare you for real life. plus, it is historically correct showing how the times were back in the medieval times. Give or take some of the creatures and armor names
