Why do Americans.......?

Canada

In Canada we seldom start law suits over frivolous things. I mean in the US there are even TV shows where people can go on and plea there case in front of a Judge. And with the latest news headlines "Man suing dry cleaner for millions". I wonder why do Americans love to take their problems to court? I hear it is so bad that people are afraid to help other in need, just incase they get sued. Please give me your opinions.....

The are what's called frivolous lawsuits and the main reason people file them is greed.

I am in Canada and this stuff doesn't happen here. I want to know what is great about these pants he is sueing the drycleaner over. They could probibly be replaced for under $200. I think it is a case of wanting money without earning it. No wonder we hear about the courts being backed up, its these stupid suits. I think he should get the replacement amount on the pants and be done with it.

I totally agree! I've been saying it for years, people will sue someone for any reason or no reason. Spill hot coffee on yourself after going through a fast food drive-thru? Sue that place because the coffee was too hot. lol Someone gives you CPR to try to save your life and a rib gets broken in the process? Sue that person because they injured you. Sound crazy?! It happens every single day in America. And I'm sure that the US is not the only country that has this problem either. People are very money-hungry these days.

I have family in the US and when they happen upon a car accident they will call 911 and let them know where and move on. She was sued (later droped) for helping a man out of a burning car. He sued because they did not save something else that was in the car aswell. The judge would not even look at it. So I see why people do not like helping others, in the US.

All those frivolous law suits drive me crazy, it costs us money, not to mention freedoms and services. People suck sometimes. They want and want and as soon as you give it to them, they sue you.

But in the end the US is its own worst enemy for people feel the can get money for free can cause the other person to loose everything thus tipping the balance. thanks for the post.
