One of my friends recently told me she didn't feel other people stop and look around to enjoy life and realize how much they have to be thankful for each day. Do you help others when you can help? Is there somebody you have helped today just because your a nice person? I watched the movie Pay it Forward this morning and its a wonderful movie about helping other people and not asking for anything in return. Today I received some canceled postage stamps from a friend just because I collect stamps and she didn't ask for anything in return. She is so nice that she sent me some coupons for juice. Its my favorite kind of juice and now I can save 1.00 on each carton. I just mailed out some coupons to somebody that has a new baby, so the diaper coupons should help her save money. I like to help whenever I can as realize you never know when you might new help also.

Momma i think that one of the most beautiful presents that life has given us, is the ability to give. I do think that if you do not use this gift, you will never know what is to get also. It is a special dynamics in this world and it always worked that way. When i was a young child i did not understand why i give but i do not get back. But my father explained to me that the problem was in my thinking, one i would give without no expactations of getting somthing in return, the "presents" would start pouring in. So i do practice that for many years now. I do think that we should enjoy every present that we were given in this world, and giving is one of them. It is a wonderful thing. I am glad that you are using it too. :)

Thank you for a great reply. I didn't understand as a child either, but now can understand its a concept that is hard to appreciate. Many people have helped me without my asking and its nice to know that other people care about others and are willing to help others without expecting something in return.

I like to help whenever possible, even to the point of putting other people's needs ahead of my own. I'm not saying that to sound like I am all wonderful, it's just my life isn't really that great right now and that is one pleasure that I can get, knowing that someone else might have had a better day because of me.

pay it forward is one of my all time favorite films. i can never forget how much i cried while watching the film. it touched my heart and woke up my inner being... telling me to pass the kindness done to me to anyone. it's when i realized that the kindness i do to people is somehow passed on to another person. we might now know it but it is done by many people. and it's really one good deed - that in this world of rudeness, there are those who stand up for what is right and do the right things to others... whether they know the other person or not. kindness done, is kindness passed... anne

Thanks for the reply. I agree kindness should be passed on and always do this in my life. Its always better to be nice, as other people will want to spend time around you and when you do need help others will come forward in your time of need.

Thanks for the reply. I agree life is hard now and there is no reason to make it harder. I do my best to see something good in a situation, but sometimes that is very hard for me to do every day.

I have often helped others without wanting or needing anything in return. And I have always loved the concept of paying it forward, although I haven't yet seen the movie.

I also love that movie it made me cry. We do have to be nice to people even if they are not nice to them. We do not expect other people to be nice first at all times. We have to initiate as well. I try to do my best to be nice to people and help them as much as I can. I think the best thing I did for somebody today was to talk to a lonely person and cheered her up a bit. I think it's also a nice habit to ask yourself if you've done a good deed today so you'll be spurred to go out of your way to help someone. Yes, we should also learn how to count our blessings and consider how lucky we are to have them. Having this awareness will also spur us on to spread goodness.

Thanks for the reply. I agree that its a great idea to ask yourself have I done a good deed today. Each day, I look for a topic with no responses and post on it at mylot. I try to always make at least one post for each person that posts a reply on one of my topics.

I like to try to help out people when I can as well. I don't have much money so a lot of times it may not be much but I believe it's the thought that counts. I love the movie Pay it Forward. No matter how many times I watch it it always makes me cry. Too bad there aren't more people in the world like that.

I like helping people especially those people I don't know and may not encounter again. I just like it that way because then I know that I'm doing it for the sake of doing it and not because I want something in return. Mostly I help little old ladies with their bags of groceries or other stuff. There was one time when I was at a store and a woman was trying to pull an older woman up on her feet. The older woman was trying out a pair of shoes and since there weren't any chairs around, she sat on the bottom of the display shelf. She couldn't stand up and so she asked her friend to pull her up, but without much luck. I admit that I found this a little funny, but I put my serious face on and helped pull the older woman up on her feet. Needless to say, the two women were so grateful that I came along and helped them out. I don't think there's anything that would compare to that feeling that you get when you see that look of gratitude on these people's faces.

Thank you for the reply. I thinks its important to help people that need help with their groceries and getting up from the floor. Its a great feeling to make somebody else have an easier time.
