I responded to a few discussions not too long ago about Vietnam Vets. that were started by the Vets. Try to search myLot under discussion, just type in "Vietnam Veterans". I was interested because I work in a VA Hospital.

I am a Vietnam era veteran. I was in the Special Forces (Green Beret) but did not get to see any war action. I did however go up to Alaska for mountain and glacier training. I did volunteer for Vietnam, Dominican Republic and Germany and they sent me to Fort Dev ens in "Taxachussetts" in the Tenth Special Forces Group.

As a former US Ranger (75th) speaking. That must have pissed you-off. All-dressed up with no where to go? I had the honor of going the first time and getting shot, then going back again and getting blown-up..LOL
I can laugh now, at least I'm alive. Weighing the good against the bad? I'd do it again.

After airborne training, I was asked to go to helicopter pilot training. I knew that it would be a 2 to 3 month wait and that I probably be on KP{ duty during the wait. I told them that I still wanted to go into Special Forces training. I think that I made the right choice because most of the pilots came back in body bags from Vietnam.

Oh, yeah. One of them is on my friend list. His avatar is a picture of him in a military uniform from way back in the day.

I'm sure they are here but maybe they don't care to talk about it. In which case I definitely don't blame them. Viet Nam is a tough subject for a lot of people to remember.
