My husband stinks! Ever since he discovered TAG body spray

he won't use anything else. He uses the body wash, the deodorant AND the body spray. It makes me gag. It's too harsh for me. Actually, all those personal products that they label "Men" or "Sports" or "Active" are horrid to me. When my husband comes out of the shower in the morning, I'm choking and yelling "Close the bathroom door!" I actually turn my head away when he hugs me good-bye. I hate this stuff. He loves it and says that women compliment him on it all the time. And at the end of a 8-10 hour day, he comes home STILL reeking of this stuff! It's harsh enough to linger ALL day. I bought him some Cool Water cologne which I like very much - he said it makes him smell like a pimp! What do I do? Has anyone else had this problem with all these "Men body sprays" on the market or any other cologne?

I had to laugh at your discussion because I can relate to it. Its not my boyfriend who is doing it but it is his 15 year old son. He just has the Tag body spray. He puts so much on that it smells up the whole house. I sometimes put my shirt up over my mouth and nose when he walks by me. I tell him he is putting on way too much but he doesn't listen. I can't see where women like this stuff because I think it is disgusting.

HAHA! I think that it must be the commercials - they are pretty cute. Maybe they have my husband convinced that all the women in the office will attack him in the elevator! It's really not just the quantity actually sprayed - any at all, is too much. Do all you can to reach the 15 year old as soon as possible - scent is very important in the mating game. A woman shouldn't be able to choke on your cologne before you even turn the corner!

My husband uses Axe body wash and deodorant. I use to love the smell. But now, it's just to strong for me. Could be because he changed the fragrance. But whatever the reason, I know that when he takes his showers, I have to keep the door closed because it's just to strong. Sometimes I can't breath because it's so strong. LOL!
If your husband wont change for you, maybe ask him to use less then what he has been using. Could be he is just using way to much.

Our bathroom connects to the bedroom and the hallway, I've started to insist that he use the hallway door after he showers and to spray while he's still in the bathroom! This helps but this stuff creeps under the bathroom door like fog in a horror movie! When I yell "Whoa, whoa! Slow down with the spray!" He just tells me that he is a big man and has a lot of ground to cover. You know what? He really likes this stuff and I don't think I'm gonna change his mind about it. It helps to know that there are other women who are choking in sympathy with me! Thankx!

I realize this is a problem, but I have to thank you for the much needed laugh! Do you think it sprays it on himself during the day? If he is, maybe you could make a deal with him that he only puts it on in the morning and that is it. I just keep thinking if it is that bad, he must put it on throughout the day. Maybe I'm wrong, but I do have sympathy for you.

No, amazingly enough - he only uses it once a day! The stuff just lingers. It's probably deep in his pores by now because he showers with it, too! I can smell it on his clothes when I do the laundry! Thanks for your sympathy and your humor, they both help.

omg..i know just how you feel..my husband had this thing with stetson..and i HATE the smell..is it me or do they loose there mind when applying the stuff? what ever happened to the light spritzing? oh wait they didnt learn that ..as little girls we learn a little goes a long way, i guess they get pour it on the more the merrier! eeewwwww...not true..because when my husbands in the bathroom and spraying that stuff i have to scream "close the door" as well..and its gagging me the cat, geeze even the house plants and the stink lingers on for a long time..i mean the hang time is rough..i said to him why do you put that stuff on? he tells me because you like it..i have no idea of where he got that from, maybe its the teary eyed look i give as im gagging when he hugs me upon leaving..i bought him some Versace blue jeans and he wont wear it..but i like it.."in moderation", maybe im better off not having him apply that because we all know by now moderation is not in his dictionary!..the body sprays..they are horrid..now i have a total of 3 men, young men in the house and imagine the smells..i mean gag a maggot...and anything in the odors path..oh yeah and women compliment because they are not standing in the clouds gagging as it is applied, unfortunately the stench was made to last all day long..and all day long it does indeed last! but its nice to know that other women are feeling this way..heres a gas mask...glad to share with ya!

I also have a problem with it but its my daughter who loves the smell of it. She sprays it on her teddies and stuff. so I asked her what it all about and she said it smell nice. I think it must be a boy yep I do. It is over powering and It sticks around longer than the rest. I feel for us. I hope it fades before she dates him. Then the smell may be around for a while...lolol

There's gotta be something pheromone related about this stuff because it effects women so differently. How old is your daughter? Yeah, she does sound as if she has a terrific crush on some lucky guy! Well, her we can forgive - no one expects you to keep your senses about you when you're in new love!

my husband uses some kind of cologne, i cant remember the name right now, but it STINKS. he says he uses one spray, but its more like 3. One day, after my baby was born, he kissed her goodbye and she started sneezing. I always have to make him close the bathroom door before he leaves because that smell lingers, either that or its so stuck in my nose that its all i can smell. i dont like any of the men, sport, or active stuff and the only kind of men's cologne i like is aqua di gio.

Haha I have to admit, I actually like that stuff. lol That being said though, too much of any scent, even a good one, can be pretty annoying. I once dated a guy who used this scent that I absolutely loved, but he used SO much of it that it made me gag! It was a great scent, but it was like he bathed in it or something and that made it gross, lol.

I totally know what you mean! My boyfriend overuses Axe (Lynx in some countries), it's similar to TAG. He doesn't mean to, but he always claims the product comes out out too fast before he can stop it so he just doesn't know when enough is enough. The smell is okay, but it's so overpowering and chemical smelling! If I go to the bathroom and close the door after he's used the spray my throat just chokes up, it's that strong. Thankfully the scent doesn't hang around too long, so I guess I'm lucky with something.

Ah, Ha! We might be on to something here, folks. It's called "Lynx" in some countries? Isn't the Lynx a wild cat? You ever been in a room that has been sprayed by a cat that is in heat? Same effect as TAG and Axe! A cat in heat. Interesting that some women claim to like it on my husband and I hate it. Hmmm.
Anyway, since your husband's spray doesn't seem to linger too long for you, you might want to get him to try the old "misting" technique that our mothers used to do. Remember, she would spray the air in front of her and then step quickly into and out of the mist? I think that all mothers, of a certain era, were wise to this. It might work for you. My husband won't do it because he says it makes him feel like a girl. He's a real brute sometimes - oh, god, that reminds me, his father wears Brut cologne and his grandfather wears Old Spice! Maybe it's hereditary? Thankx for responding.

I totally relate! I told my partner that I like the smell of Axe lol. He went out and bought the body spray, the deodorant AND the Shower Gel. Bearing in mind too that this stuff is not cheap!
When he wakes me in a morning, I can smell it on hm and it's so so strong. He whines because I told him I liked it, and I said yes, but I didn't say bathe in it for Gods sake!
It's those commercials they make for things like this. they're designed to boost a male ego, and lets face it, we all know how fragile they are :P

Lol! Classic! You say you like it and he goes overboard! You're right about the price adding up when you buy all the versions of it. There's no way my husband would throw any of this stuff out and waste money that way. But what keeps happening is, the body wash will last longer than the spray and then he has to buy more spray and when the body wash runs out, he has spray left so he has to buy more body wash to go with the spray and the cycle continues. I tried to point out to him how the manufacturers timed it this way, he didn't believe me yet he keeps buying in the cycle! Stop the madness! This stuff is truly marketed well. Thanks for responding.

My son is a little heavy-handed with it. We banned it from the house. How old is your husband? Tell him it's only meant for men under 25 and he'll just have to buy a red convertible when he hits 45 like all men in a mid-life crisis. LOL
It's far worse than women's perfume ever was, though and you're right, it just seems to creep into you sinuses and it's there all day.
Maybe there's a way to make it smell bad? Add a few drops of lemon to it or something? He'll smell like an air freshener then.

Ha! I had to spray his coat with Febreeze to get the smell of TAG out! It was far more pleasant, lol. My husband is far from 45, I'm a whole lot closer - as a matter of fact, that is why he thinks that I don't like it, I'm just not hip enough. I may not be the hippest but I do know what stinks!

Hi,
Why don't you try gifting him some good deodorant so that he has to use it. May be he will use it. Just a thought. Good luck.

I've tried the new deodorant route, as well as samples of other men's colognes. He wasn't impressed. I think he feels like I'm making too much of it. He has found something to work for him, he doesn't have to think about it - just wash and spray and his hygiene is done for the day! I like different colognes and deodorants for different occaisons. Now, I don't expect him to go this far but I think he should keep looking until he finds something that we both like. Thankx.

OH MY GOSH yes, lol. My boyfriend has the body wash, deodorant, body spray, soap, EVERYTHING. I think it smells ALRIGHT, but its not the greatest smelling stuff in the world. I think that it appeals to guys because of all the ridiculous commercials they have for it.

It is the commercials and, I think, the simplicity of the product. Most men are not confident about choosing a cologne and they couldn't begin to tell you the difference between an exfoliating body wash and a moisturizing one, lol. With TAG or AXE, all they have to do is match the colors on the labels and head for the check out! Oh, that is if they can make it through the throng of women who are throwing themselves at them! LOL

my husband uses that Bod Man spray and while I like the smell of it he uses way too much I think and it kinda has this weird after smell to it, like planting soil or something. I don't know what it is but it stinks.

Yes, it is very strong, even the slightest bit will gag me. Although, it is not my husband who wears it but my son. He really likes it and he buys it with his own money, I just have to tell him to only use one spray. It never works, but at least I try. I don't know if we just have sensitive smellers or what, but I know that other people frequently compliment my son, without coughing! I can't, I always cough and gag because it is so strong. Good luck!

Yeah, a lot of times when you wear something so much, your brain becomes so accustomed to it that you don't even smell it anymore. This is probably why people aren't really affected by their own BO, lol. Suggest washing with something fresh, like Irish Spring or Zest (love zest), then spraying a quick one or two bursts under each arm (it IS a deodorant spray after all). It smells horrible in excess, but in minimal amounts? Sweet Nuit, that's how my son got here, lol. That Tag's something else. But ONLY in moderation, I can't stress that enough. There's nothing that smells better than just clean male. Tag is only supposed to enhance that. Although Cool Water does smell great. Try anything from Giorgio Armani; his scents are usually excellent and very understated without smelling pimpish.
Blessed Be

I think because my husband is a heavy smoker, his sense of smell has become a bit impaired. Maybe it takes a harsh, overbearing sent like TAG to get through to him. I couldn't imagine continuing to wear a scent that he hated - let alone bathing in it! Choosing a scent, for me, is a very involved process - how does it make me feel? what kind of an impression does it leave? Is it memorable or just invasive? I used to wear Kouros by YSL. It's a men's scent but it was just so flat out sexy - I loved catching whiffs of it throughout the day. Sadly, my husband wasn't impressed with it - on me or him. I have all kinds of liquid soap in my house, everything from Dial to Victoria's Secret. He is just stuck on TAG. Have mercy!

Actually I dont have any idea why you guys all are in against of body sprays, perfumes and this sort of stuffs. This makes you smell good and gives you a refreshing feel. These are cool guys. So dont hate these and try to use some of good brands so that u can actually get the real smell of sprays. Best of luck.
