I'm not being sensitive or everreacting, but whenever I come across someone smoking a cigarette, I either wrinkle my nose, cover my nose and mouth with my hand or hanky, or wave my hand like a fan in front of my nose/face to clear the air. I just don't like the smell of cigarette though I tried smoking once. ^__^;; I hated the experience. and I swear i'll never do it again not even a puff.
how about you? do you make any reactions when you came across someone smoking?

well, i am too a smoker so it would be pretty odd to have any kind of other reaction than "excuse me, do you have a light?" if i need one :)

hahaha! some of my smoking friends sometimes jokingly and stupidly ask me if I have a light. LOL
they just can't quit smoking they say. it became their habit and they said it helps in the digestion of the food they ate.

my sister (who does not smoke) started having a lighter with her everywhere she goes... just because she was going through what you just said :)

I don't blame your reactions. I also try to avoid
people when they're smoking. Not only does it stink
and sometimes make me sneeze but at times you can
taste their smoke. Ugh!
I'll turn my head, fan my face or cover my nose and
mouth briefly if it's too close and unavoidable. I
don't know what it's like in the Philippines but laws
here are making it tougher for smokers to be in public.
By the way. You changed colors. Hope you're not really
feeling blue. LOL

Good association. It's true with a lot of my friends
because of deadlines and nagging clients. I'm sure
it's not the only reason why they smoke but it sure
does contribute to their stress.
When I'm in deep thought you might catch me biting my
lower lip from time to time. That's about it.
I don't smoke mainly because my parents were heavy
smokers and it drove me nuts. I can't be with a woman
who smokes either. The smell, the taste when you kiss.
Ugh!
Glad to know you're not blue. Let me know when you want
to add an image. We'll do it together.

Good for your mom. She'll be around a lot longer
for the two of you to enjoy each other's company.
Glad to know you only tried it and didn't continue.
We can't change others unless they see the light all
by themselves. So we accept our siblings, friends and
others for who they are.
Putting an image up this time will be painless. I
promise. Just let me know when.

really? my mother too was a chain smoker before. i dont know about my father coz they were separated when i was 3. my mother though, quit smoking all by herself. not with any help of someone or anything. i gave her the thumbs up for that. i didnt like her smoking too. i feel like i can smell the smoke wherever inside the house even if she smokes outside the house. i still do though, because my older sister smokes. my brother smokes too but he doesnt live with us anymore since he got married.
anyway... well, as for my smoking friends, if they dont listen to me, its ok. as long as their smoking doesnt bother me. ^__^
an image! yeah.. i forgot about that.. yup, i'll call for help if i get in the mood to edit my page again. ^__^;; thanks jumpinjack. and if i blue, i'll for cheer up-ping. ^__^;;

I think you're right to react in that way.. If you are (even slightly) offended by smoke, there is no reason why you shouldn't be allowed to make your feelings known. There are other bad smells that are unacceptable in company - why would you tolerate smoke which can in fact damage your own health.

Last week, a UK politician was approached and 'cautioned' by transport police for smoking on a train (this is illegal now in the UK - he is a politician, he helped to make the law!!??!!). He tried to say that it was OK because he had his head out of the window... The police said 'really..? you had your head out of the window??', 'Yes' he replied, 'OK' said the policeman 'we are now going to caution you for sticking your head out of a moving train!!' ha ha ha - it's absolutely true, check it out

really? hahaha! serves him right! these kind of politicians ought to be ashamed of themselves. they created a law, they should be the first ones to follow it! right? they are really abusing their power with much gusto. good thing the police were straight and honest to their jobs. they should be lauded for that. hurrah for them! ^__^ I wish all police are like that. they won't care if the offender is of higher authority like politicians.

hukka is an olden style of smoking, even chillums offlately hukkas are introduced in hotels and restaurants by adding fruit flavor to it they serve u. it has a pot and a pipe attached to the pot on one end and the other end is used by the person to take a puff.

I don't know that I purposely do so; but, I am allergic to smoke..so naturally I may cough, cover my nose or walk away.. I have asthma and smoke triggers a reaction:)

purposely or not, we have the right to react, especially if the smoker is smoking in a prohibited area.

I smoke and obviously it doesn't bother me when I'm doing it but if I'm not smoking and someone around me is I don't like the smell of it and it kinda makes me sick. I have to get away from it. I know that probably makes no sense but I just think of it as the second hand smoke is worse than actually smoking.

LOL that sounds weird. ^__^;; a smoker that doesn't like second hand smoke.. doesn't make any sense, just like you said. LOL

i'm a ex smoker but still that doesn't means that i have to avoid all those places or ple who smokes.. because i wanna prove to myself that i'm no longer under the influence of cigratte and wun be tempted bt it again ^_^ and wat u doing is very normal, when i'm still a smoker last time, whenevr ple pass me when i'm smoking, they will either cover their nose or give me a dirty kinda look ^_^;; but as a smoker, i do think of ple too.. ANd that's y when children, woman or girls coming my way, i will turn away and blow out the smoke to elsewear ^_^ hehe.. take it as a respect to them and make it healthier for the kids ^_^

yes, i was a smoker b4.. ANd i did thinking of quitting after smoking for 3 yrs.. But i din really quit till 6 years after i started smoking ^_^ THe reason is due to the increasing price of cigrattes here is way too high and thus i decide to quit ^_^ Same like all others, i tot quitting will be hard and i tried to cut down the number of sticks i puff everyday( from 10 a day to 3 a day) hehe..
I felt like it's very troublesome to control it like that and so i went cold turkey instead.. LOL.. But luckily for me, i do exercises reguarly, so i din face with any withdrawal symptons ^_^ hehe.. and till now, i haven touch any cigrattes for 1.5 years ^_^ hehe

It depends. I'm a non-smoker myself, but if the person smoking is sensitive enough to blow his smoke away from the general public, then I don't mind. In front of my friends, I don't mind either unless they've been smoking too long that I can't breathe well anymore -- then I would excuse myself. Or if I happen to pass by a smoking area, it doesn't bother me because I know they're free to smoke there.
But then there are rude people who smoke in your face in public places or in non-smoking areas... that's when I cover my nose or wave my hand to clear the air. These people should really learn to be more sensitive to others.

Yes I openly frawn if am polite, but in most cases I go into a verbal attack on careless smokers who puff smoke anywhere and blow it onto crowds because I get very much affected by tobaco smoke since am also mildly asthmatic.

As a ex smoker, i tend to be a little more sensative than most to smoke so i tend just to walki away. I do feel people who wave their hand like a fan tend to look a little retarded however

I hate that smell and most hate those who smoke in public places causing inconvenience to others..some of my friends smoke but they never even take a puff if am with them since they know very well that i hate that smell..
i happen to see lot of people cooly smoking not even noticing that there are people walking beside and behind them..i either close my nose with my hand kerchief, walk fast so as to cross that smoker , wave my hand if some one accidently puffs in front of my face..

most of my friends are considerate too. when they are smoking, usually when we're having a drinking session, they would puff out the smoke away from me. they know I don't smoke and I don't like the smell of the smoke.

Hello there! Like you, I also make many reactions whenever I pass by someone who smokes or either ways. But what I tremendously do to stop them smoking is telling something to myself though I intend my message to them. I usually give a nasty sigh telling myself quite loud, HELLO?! NO SMOKING PLEASE with an act of coughing. Sometimes I want them to hear that I'M AN ASTHMATIC PERSON and I really am.
Funny it may seem but it's effective..:)
